Titanfall 2: How Long the Single Player Campaign Is

Titanfall 2 is due to release later this week and brings with it an entire standalone single player campaign. Here's how long it'll take you to complete.

5 hours... another brutally short campaign... sigh

DaDrunkenJester3102d ago

5 hour really fun campaign is better than a 8-12 hour boring one...

rdgneoz33102d ago

And a 5 hour boring campaign is not as good as an 8-12 hour fun campaign.

game4funz3102d ago (Edited 3102d ago )

But is it fun?
I'm getting the feeling some companies are paying off reviewers.

Battlefield 1 campaign is really nothing special. And now this one is praised too....

freshslicepizza3102d ago (Edited 3102d ago )

5 hours is still not bad compared to the countelss hours online and a vr game that costs the same and is only 3-5 hours.

WithoutTheJamIn3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

I agree that 5 hours of decent quality is better than 10 hours of garbage, but surely developers can capitalise on that mindset by saving time and money producing a shorter campaign and using precisely that line of defence?

Also have to disagree regarding the quality of Battlefield 1 campaign, I personally felt it was the most immersive war game I have played since probably COD 4: Modern Warfare. My only criticism would be the campaign length, which takes me back to the point mentioned previously.

FPS's and TPS's have always had short campaigns for the most part...

Fyflin3102d ago

@Critical

How long have you been gaming!?

_-EDMIX-_3102d ago

@Fyflin- he's not really incorrect with that notion the average single player campaign actually really isn't that long all you have to do is look on gaming websites like how long is my game and you'll see that the majority of single player games of first-person shooters or third-person Shooters is actually typically not as long as you might think

In fact I'd argue that first person shooters or third-person shooters that go beyond 20 hours are actually very rare.

I mean all you have to do is look at the data , I'm not saying whether it's good or bad I'm simply saying I'm pretty positive the average first person shooter and third person shooter is actually very short in regards to game length.

Muzikguy3102d ago (Edited 3102d ago )

You believe that? I've been gaming since the genre was created and I don't agree for one second. Original Doom was long. "Old school" COD games had decent length campaigns. Uncharted has a longer story. Tomb Raider games on PS1 weren't short. Killzone 2, also not a short game. A little game called Area 51 on PS2 was longer than I ever expected. I could go on and on

I guess if people keep buying these short games companies will continue to put them out. That's probably the biggest problem right there. Consumers selling themselves short. We should expect more, but we should also pay for it too. If nobody buys a game that is longer why would a company make it? Works both ways

WellyUK3102d ago

Good thing people who have a brain buy these sort of games for the MP which is who they are made for... But then again you all bitched and wanted a SP then they give you one and you still cry about it. And you wonder why they don't bother anymore.

Sparta073102d ago

Wow!!! dumbest comment I read in a while. so is bad that we ( the consumers ) want a good single player???
IS it really bad that we want a good single player campaign and a good mutiplay game?
They way some people think around here is unbelievable.

Chiefstabahoe3102d ago

Most of EAs games are like this and most of us expected this and the sad part...we told yall not to get ur hopes up. Clearly yall didn't listen. I have no intention to buy TF2 for its campaign

Doom has a good single player and yet ppl still bitched and cried cause it barley had a story

Germany73101d ago

Judging by your comments, you sure don't have a brain.

UCForce3101d ago

"Sign"Are you just that low ?

WellyUK3100d ago

No I just think they can't win as you now all bitch it's too short despite being good... Then you all wonder why they go the MP only route, this is the reason.

"Prepare for TitanFall"...speed runs on Twitch lol...2 hours or less...

chobit_A5HL3Y3102d ago

they threw it in there because people bitched about it not having one in the first one. it's there simply to cover all the bases this time around. the vast majority of people will buy this for the mp and they know it.

spicelicka3102d ago (Edited 3102d ago )

That doesn't mean the campaign isn't good, so far it's been praised. I'd much rather take this package than the same package without the campaign, because we all know they would've just made the multiplayer the same way and charged $60.

I don't care what anyone else has to say, a good story with good gameplay and good multiplayer gets me a lot more invested in an IP than just multiplayer. I felt the first game had a lot of spirit and I felt emotionally connected but couldn't do anything with it because there was no story to experience. I'll gladly accept this.

coolbeans3102d ago

"...because we all know they would've just made the multiplayer the same way and charged $60."

But do we though? Now, with all the other stuff in your comment I can totally follow along. But I'm quoting this part b/c I think this could feed back to my blog on this a few months back (which I remember you contributing).

-How much went into making this campaign?
-Could those resources have been allocated to create a few more shipped maps instead?

I don't think we'll ever know the answer, but I just wanted to pose this thought. NOTE: I'm still very excited for TF2 regardless and hope I enjoy the campaign a whole lot! :D

spicelicka3102d ago (Edited 3102d ago )

I don't know that for sure of course, but my guess is based off the general trend with multiplayer-only games this entire gen that have little content (Battlefront, Evolve, R6 Seige etc.), and the fact that most gaming companies would not dump the single player budget on the multiplayer to make it "better'. They would instead use a slightly larger multiplayer budget, and save on costs.

Again, that's based on how publishers function nowadays, if there were games to show me otherwise then I'd happily change my opinion.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3102d ago

So they put a SP in the game because people bitches about the first not having one. Now people are complaining about the length of the SP that was added to the second game? Man some people....

conanlifts3101d ago

They are also giving away all future maps so no season pass. Pretty good. My issue with the first was i was rarely able to get a game on the new maps as there was never more than a few people online in Aus when i wanted to play.

opinionated3102d ago

If you added a question mark at the end of the title it would be perfect Ebonics.

How long that single playa campaign is?

I agree with this. The time travel mechanics. The sense of scale. The relationship with your mech. The bosses all had personalities. It's a wonderful game.

mastershredder352d ago

Yeah it was good, but it only did the time travel bit in one level. Dishonered 2 did the same thing. Now how about a game where it's implemented throughout the gameplay? Singularity says Hello (and deserves so much more recognition).

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

Chocoburger439d ago

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

shinoff2183439d ago

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Knightofelemia439d ago

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.
