Ladies and gentlemen...

I present to you a supporter of all microtransactions and DLC

AnotherProGamer3163d ago

I don't have a problem with microtransactions or DLC but putting a series staple mechanic behind a paywall is just wrong

miyamoto3163d ago

That is MS and Crapcom for you. They never learn.

BossBattle3163d ago

@miyamoto that's not MS doing it. It's a time exclusive coming to PS4 eventually.

_-EDMIX-_3163d ago

What's your solution? Take over the company? You're essentially complaining about content you legally don't even own in the first place.

First world problems folks

UnHoly_One3163d ago

Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but from that description it sounds like a completely different mode, like an add on with its own story.

Not just the addition of the time limit into the default campaign.

Kryptix3163d ago (Edited 3163d ago )

lol He's an obvious goldfish.

"Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising: In this DLC, Frank West is freshly infected and needs to find a cure before he becomes a zombie and is lost forever. While searching for a cure, Frank discovers that everything is not the same as it was; zombies are getting smarter, people cannot be trusted and paramilitary forces are plotting to wipe out Willamette. Frank has a limited time before he reverts to the full zombie state and the city is wiped out. Frank will have to get to the truth first… or die trying."

From how it reads, it sounds like it has it's own story, characters, and enemies, but regardless, adding it in to a separate DLC than an overall optional mode kinda begs for money from those who played the older ones. From how it reads, it'll just be a different version of Williamette, the same area you'll play in the base game.

The same area without the Christmas theme? Yea, sounds like it. So if they can implement the mode in that, they could of implemented it in the base game. I guess they're using an old formula to make a new copy & paste DLC feel fresh.

Obvious

While you do have a right to your opinion it's just wrong man

Micro transactions will lead gaming industry towards a very bad direction so saying so what will hurt all gamers somehow and someway

WellyUK

look at how many games had MT 11 years ago compared to almost every game now having some sort of MT

big blockbuster titles like uncharted and halo 5

where things have changed is quite simple the game which required you to grind 11 years ago made the grdining that much more longer unless you are willing to pay

it's the smaller things which are being slipped in until big features will be held back

Lol shloobmm3 has a point bud.

When has gaming not been a business? You have your options to not purchase that in which you don't want.

zerocarnage3162d ago

Halo had the worst rip off MT, when you brought packs you still could not use cards untill you was levelled enough every game. It made me feel sick that the levelling wall to your purchased cards stopped you from straight out using what you already brought when you attempted to play a game of halo.

DasTier3162d ago (Edited 3162d ago )

Except that's not entirely true, Halo 2 had a map pack expansion and Halo 3 had the Heroic, Legendary and Mythic DLC. All of these cost around £10/15.

Where as ALL of the DLC in Halo 5 was free. Funded by micro transactions instead. The micro transactions gave faster access to customisation options or weapon cards to be unlocked in Warzone/Firefight, a non-ranked game mode, but these were not "locked behind a paywall" as every 1.5 games you have earned enough points to spend on the packs. This was a much better deal for games and one of if not the best implementation of micro transactions in gaming. It allowed early access to those who bought them without fundamentally unbalancing the game for those who never used real money, Me.

That makes it even more shocking that Gears of War 4 managed to fail so badly considering the example set by Halo 5.

@Zerocarnage

Are you serious? do you realise how dumb and unbalanced it would be if you could start the first round of warzone with a scorpion or banshee?

by capturing points or killing enemy's you earn points throughout the match, earning better weapons as you progress. If anything I think the card implementation is Warzone is actually one of Halo 5s biggest successes.

Out of curiosity how would you have 'improved' it?

Redesigning and recasting VA for Frank West turned me right off from this game.
It's easy, CAPCOM - reinventing features nobody asked you to reinvent makes people not want your games. Sorry, it's just common human nature to depend on certain things and once you make them lose that ground to stand on... You lose a customer.

Also, CAPCOM... Asura's Wrath should've taught you this already - don't lock anything behind DLC or your customers WILL make you eat shit in the end.

XXanderXX3163d ago

No bothered by it as I hated the time BS , so am good till I buy the pass.

opinionated3163d ago

I'm a huge DR1 fan and I loved the time limit personally. That said, I couldn't care less about this.

DivoJones3163d ago

Capcom be Capcom'in.. DLC and remasters with the occasional sequel. But make sure to never do anything new.. too risky!

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic221778d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl1778d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

1777d ago
MadLad1778d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic221778d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin1778d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

darthv721778d ago

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad1778d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod881778d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX1778d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking821778d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

moriarty18891778d ago

haha yes it may....good one.
