Job Simulator (PlayStation VR) Review - STN

STN:

Job Simulator is a highly accessible game, which is fun, entertaining and very easy to play. It’s probably one of the best games to highlight just how great VR can be and that’s a great credit to the developer. If you own VR, whether it’s HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or PlayStation VR, then you need to own this game, it’s wonderful.

What is the evidence for this other than 1 VR developers opinion? PSVR2, AVP, WMR have all stopped production not to mention countless other headset manufacturers have bowed out. Meta sales are flagging and Valve are pretty much nowhere. The remaining players are all interested in the latest shiny thing "AR Glasses", a far cry from what VR is.

All I hear are excuses from VR enthusiasts, But the reality is the patience and the consumers wallet is now empty with over a decade plus of trying to get VR to catch on. You have been given much longer than any other tech to catch on and it hasn't happened. I can attest from using VR extensively games are not inherently better in VR actually quite the opposite, they tend to be worse, They are more like Wii+ games, often shallow and janky controls that if anything takes the immersion out of the game. Sure you can get odd fun horror game but you don't even need to play a horror game to get jump scares.

The non game part of this isn't much better, I haven't seen any productivity app which makes the process of data input or graphic design faster, it just makes things slower. So it isn't even a more productive way of doing computing like Apple tried to sell it as. For this to ever catch on it has to be benefits all around when you put on a headset on and it isn't.
For most people wearing a headset is a negative to begin with so it ends up being a psychological uphill battle from the get go, especially if it is for work.

Where are you getting it that PSVR2 has stopped production?

You’re in the minority in your claim that VR versions are less enjoyable over 2d versions. RE7, RE8, GT7 are FAR better in VR.

Whether we are “close to mass market” is up in the air at this point. But I know VR isn’t unprofitable now nor is its growth to mainstream success impossible.

Job Simulator’s enduring popularity is no coincidence: it is, after all, the quintessential virtual reality game.

Of course, if you’re new to PSVR2, then this is pretty much essential: it’s not only an easy-going introduction into the world of virtual reality, but it’s also a hilarious game that executes on its ideas flawlessly. The free upgrade is appreciated too.
