Clockwork is an enjoyable albeit rather rough experience that will hook you with its gorgeous visuals and steampunk design, but some design choices leave to be desired.
Dystopian rogue-like We Happy Few has gotten a little bit more finished with the massive Clockwork Update, providing some much-needed refinement to the game’s early access build. Major change…
Great to hear...very promising game, hope they take their time to make it goid and keep listening to the players.
Absolutely agree; best way forward is always to listen to those who are going to play your game because if you give them what they want, they're more likely to become a loyal fanbase.
Now that we've fully established that a significant number of developers were blatantly lying about PS4 not supporting Early Access games, I wonder when we're going to see this game on PS4. It's a cool concept, if only very empty. I want that fleshed out narrative that was suggested by the trailers before I dive in. Don't want to ruin my first impression of the game.
Clockwork is an Australian developed puzzle-platformer that combines time-looping mechanics with a distinctive steampunk aesthetic.
Nick Ballantyne at GameCloud writes: "There’s lots of potential in Clockwork’s mechanics, but it’s brought down by clunky execution and lack of polish. Some good ideas are floating around in the game, but as far as playability is concerned, you’re better off finding another game to scratch your temporal itch. It’s a reminder that not all indie games are immediately good because of their independent status despite flaunting interesting concepts. Ah well, there’s always the next game to try something different."
