In The Long Journey Home, players choose four crew members to take with them on humanity's first trip to Mars. Problem is, when you go to jump, something goes wrong and you and your crew accidentally jump to the other side of the galaxy. The rest of the four hour campaign will have you trying to get back to Earth in a ship that is not meant, or really capable of, interstellar travel.
COGconnected: The Long Journey Home makes another stop on its list of destinations, this time landing on Nintendo's immensely popular handheld, the Switch. Much like its other iterations, The Long Journey Home shows promise, but also stumbles more often than not.
The Long Journey Home provides a procedurally-generated universe that your rag tag crew of four finds themselves on the wrong side of. The game thrives in the mundane, with resource management being your prime objective. Unique interactions with alien species provide some much-needed flavor, but it’s hard to get past how easily damageable your ship is.
