BioShock Remasters on PC Are Plagued with Problems

According to early Steam reviews, both remasters of the original BioShock and its sequel are ridden with issues, offering no option to tweak graphics as well as a bunch of new and old bugs.

Runs pretty smoothly on PS4. I had one moment where the game froze for about 20 seconds quite randomly when there was a lot going on, but otherwise it's damn good.

I wonder how devs are allowed to release sub par games and not receive any penalty for it. I guess Arkham Knight at least got pulled and told the devs to try again. Even AAA devs are becoming worse than greenlit zero effort indie devs who never leave early access.

The game looks better in the new version than in the old, even if you had everything on ultra. At least in my opinion.

I did not experience any bugs so far.

Many players, including myself, experience some major stuttering and frame drops in illogical places. There is definitely a lot that suggests remastering BioShock for PC was a rushed decision.

And from my 3 hour experience, the Bioshock remasters are not plagued at all.

The award for worst plagued game by bugs and technical problems of the month in September goes to ReCore though. That game is a mess.

Tell me about it...i have 2 980 ti SC+, and the 980 ti is one hell of a card, and yet, i still cant play some recent title at
60 fps on 4k (ranges between 45 - 60 with some tweaking and slight OC) because of poor optimization...and sometimes they struggle on 1440p or 1080p for some titles...which is understandable since the card is meant for 4K, but still...better optimization is needed for PC titles cuase this is getting rediculas

Really???Locked 4k,ultra,60 fps on 1 1080,close to 6gb ram usage and 30% gpu usage.My brother 1070,at ultra at 4k has about 90-95 fps avg,69 the lowest he has seen so far.Only problem was the mouse sensitivity on both our pcs,but we fixed it.Also,extremely poor graphics options,close to darksiders.

What are you smoking ?? have fun waiting for patches for bugs that are 9 years old and should have been fixed during the remaster. This is by far the worst remaster i own infact its worse than it was, its the opposite of remaster. No wonder it was free but a free turd is still a turd.

Edit: just to be fair Bioshock 2 is working fine, for me anyway & the jingles work again, its just 1 that CTD`s alot

This is what I bring up every time PC gamers mention hardware; what's the point if so many AAA devs don't support PC, and put most of their effort into consoles? Sure, hardware is great, but it's seems like every week some big AAA title is having a shit load of problems.

It is the other way around sometimes as well.

Play Asseto Corsa on PC and than on console. Play the Borderlands 2/Pre-Sequel Remasters on console and than play the originals on PC and you see a pretty big difference still. Street Fighter V on PS4 looks almost ugly in comparison with the PC version.

The problem is, you're going off what you hear. I'm actually playing new games on my PC nearly every week and I can tell you that the vast majority of games work very well. The few that don't usually get patched and then work well. And even the very worst ones still run and look better than on my console, so it's important to keep things in perspective.

I rarely have any issues with PC gaming, admittedly I go over the top a bit when it comes to PC builds so my machine usually makes up for bad optimization. Like Arkham Knight for example, when most people were screaming at the devs it was running flawlessly for me on max settings. People often try to run games at settings that are not meant for their system.

These sorts of issues are always overblown. If a game comes out and it crashes on someone's computer, there will inevitable be an article about how the game is "plagued" with problems, when in reality it'll work fine for 99.9% of people.

And that is why remasters should stick to consoles. Every console thing that has been tried on PC has failed and every PC thing that consoles are trying to do are failing miserably. I think the gaming industry should go back to it's original place and stop spewing money grabbing remasters (I know it's free on the PCs) and start giving us new IPs

Just tried it myself, 3840x2160, locked 60fps, runs like a dream, no other bugs or issues, I can't say it looks much better than the original though but it runs really really well on my 980Ti.

Do you know if they changed the frame rate for the physics? in the original any objects that fell over or bounced around looked like they were responding at 10 to 15 frames per second. Its a trick that devs sometimes use for animation that happens for in the distance characters, but in Bioshock it was on pretty much all objects that were affected by physics.

I bought Bioshock 1 and 2 on PC dirt cheap during a Steam sale, even though I played them on console back when they were originally released. It's a bummer if the problems don't get sorted out however for PC players with previous versions, the remasters are free on Steam. It would suck if you bought them and had issues, though.

Already got the games on Steam years ago, so I get the remastered versions for nothing, if there's a few issues they will get patched. Console only gamers HAVE to buy the new remasters though, whether they bought them on previous consoles or not.

I played it on my ps4 so don't really care what it's like on pc. That's the beauty of having consoles and a gaming pc, if a game performs badly on one platform I can always get it on the other. It's not as good as the other Batman games anyway.

I'm not even talking about just remasters. I'm talking about games in general. You seldom, if ever hear about a console game shipping that's unplayable for thousands of people. That's because console game developers only have one singular architecture to code for. Like I said, I will never be a pc gamer due to the fact that I don't want to have to worry if a game I bought is actually going to work when I get home.
