"Is this the beginning of exclusive content going to the Xbox One or PC?"

Like Bethesa are going to ignore 40+ million potential customers.

Resis7ance2800d ago (Edited 2800d ago )

I don't think we'll see Bethesda steer away from Sony but timed content for example, could still be plausible. COD players on Xbox One still buy the DLC when it launches, even if it is 30 days after PS4 release, so it wouldn't eliminate PS4 users.

exclusive game breaking bugs

TheCommentator2799d ago

New Monday, It's the PS versions of Bethesda's games that have had all the exclusive game-breaking bugs. That trend will continue, I'm sure.

ninjazfistz2800d ago

It COULD happen on a game or two especially with a little cash...but yeah I don't think they will stop making Playstation games at all.

MasterCornholio2799d ago

I don't believe Bethesda will abandon those gamers either.

NXSwitch2799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

Just like in the past when 3rd parties left Nintendo because of all the harsh rules they laid on 3rd parties between Sega & Sony early years? Anything can happen & Sony better watch it.

Kiwi662799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

Guess they might have to if they can't sort things out with sony but at least theres still a glimmer of hope that they won't have to

Aceman182799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

It means nothing in the grand scheme of things, it's not like these mods were going to make the system sell more systems something it's already doing on its own.

ONESHOTV22799d ago

SniperControl--- 40 million is nothing but a hand in a lake compared to pc so where do you think they should keep their focus again ?

XXanderXX2799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

If all 40 million bought their game no , but seeing that the number of those likely to buy their game is more in the neighborhood of maybe 2-3 million instead .
If they are willing to ignore those numbers then yes theirs a possibility that they can go PC & Xbox exclusive with content & even games . It's a wait and see game now

SlyFoxC2799d ago

well Farming Simulator 2017 has mods confirmed for PS4 day one. so idk..

seeing as the Ps4 version of Fallout 4 outsold the Xbox 1 version by almost 3 million it would stupid to make it exclusive to the Xbox 1

ninjazfistz2800d ago

I agree. Maybe a DLC, mode or expansion will be exclusive though. I don't like exclusives, for the record, from 3rd party companies.

Goldby2799d ago

Rhey have fallout 4 in vr next year. Thats fhe exclusiveness. Real question will be qhen skyrim comes out do they charge the same for the game on ps4 seeing as a huge selling feature is the mods and the lack of them mean we arent getting the same game

Summons752799d ago

Tell that to Sony who shot them down.

arkard2799d ago

Sony didn't shoot anyone down. Bethesda wanted to use pc friendly things like textures and sound when the ps4 is not designed like that. Instead of finding a way to make it work Bethesda blamed Sony. Sony did not in the last week decide mods can't happen on ps4. Bethesda over promised and does not want to take the heat for it.

Charybdis2799d ago

@arkard They kinda did
“After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition”

freshslicepizza2799d ago

is the system also not designed to have external hard drive support, or allow cross play with other consoles, or have competing services like ea access? looks to me like sony is tightening the noose more and more and you guys seem rather ok with it.

TFJWM2799d ago

@Charybdis No it pretty much proves Arkard's point. Sony told them at the start what they would allow or not allow to happen on the system at the start. "After months of discussion with Sony" Sony still didn't budge on what they required for Mods so instead of Bethesda conforming with Sony's wishes they decided no mods.

TheCommentator2799d ago

Your post is irrelevant because it says exclusive content, not exclusive games, right in the title. You know, like the exclusive PS4 content for Destiny? Don't worry though, you'll still get games with exclusive problems, just not exclusive gameplay.

Rimeskeem2800d ago

The title is slight click bait. Sony won't do mod support with Bethesda for unspecified reasons. That means they could do it with other devs and publishers.

Resis7ance2800d ago

I completely agree with the title, it's been edited. Although not through here as I didn't submit the article.

Rimeskeem2800d ago

I mean the title is alright it just confused me cause I thought it meant no mod support from anyone.

ninjazfistz2800d ago

Umm. I never edited the submission. Maybe the source did after uploading?

Resis7ance2800d ago

No @ninjazfistz that was the original title but I can see where people might get confused and have edited the title of the article to be less confusing, you can edit the title to match if you wish.

@Rimeskeem I completely understand.

ninjazfistz2800d ago

Yeah. They changed it on me making me look bad LOL. Fixed!

Resis7ance2800d ago

@ninjazfistz I can assure you that wasn't the case ;)

ninjazfistz2800d ago

I will update the title with the change made to the article title. It WAS clickbaity.

ninjazfistz2800d ago (Edited 2800d ago )

What is with the stealth disagrees with no comments? I don't see comments saying why

Edit: Nvm I see because he put sales figures in favor of a PS4 version of Fallout where it wasn't really necessary? Maybe I shouldn't have agreed. Oh well. We all know he is right. But I guess he shouldn't have said it though because its obvious Fallout will be on there...true. Man this site gets pissed off quick.

SaveFerris2799d ago

It means annoyed PS4 fans of Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Microsoft's Absurd Antics Have Me Scared For Dishonored And Arkane Lyon's Future

With Arkane Austin no more and Lyon living for who knows how long, the superb Dishonored is in serious danger; Microsoft cannot be trusted.

Relientk774h ago

I love the Dishonored series so much and really want Dishonored 3. Microsoft better not screw this up.

JEECE1h ago

I mean, I think the fans will probably kill Arkane Lyon by cooking up reasons to hate whatever they do next without playing it. I've never seen a game so artificially disliked as Deathloop.

thesoftware7301h ago

Lol, why don't we just say, we are worried about all studios owned by MS now. They will keep closing studios until they have none left ...🙄

Rumored PlayStation May 2024 showcase could happen this week per industry insider

A renowned industry insider has suggested the rumored PlayStation May 2024 showcase featuring Silent Hill 2 could happen this week.

Bogus!
Why would Sony do that and how would this benefit them?
1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event.
2) Risk of not having great coverage or proper coverage from the various source
3) It could give the impression that they are not confident in their own stuff.
4) They would miss the chance to hype the event losing viewers and losing free marketing time.

Again I'm calling it bogus unless it's a small showcase before the big one or because they want to announce that Hellbalde 2 is also coming on PS5.

SlothLordPootus2h ago

As far as I can remember, they typically give a week heads up for these sorts of things.

Lightning772h ago

I was about to say Sony always gives a week in advance for their show.

VersusDMC2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Last year it was a weeks notice.

https://blog.playstation.co...

May 17th announcement for may 24th show.

VersusDMC1h ago

Nintendo always tweets that a direct is happening tomorrow but no one cares.

Sony gives a week or days of notice and we get anti sony type fake outrage like this.

But good luck trying trying to get some Sony hate going...

Petebloodyonion1h ago

You just mention it!
Sony gives a week in advance NOT just a couple of days.
So I fail to see what Sony's hate movement I'm trying to start when it's a basic business strategy to not piss off your partners (ask Sega).
And I doubt it's hate to ask how it would benefit Sony in doing so.

thesoftware7301h ago(Edited 1h ago)

@Versus
Huh? What?

Bro you really should relax, if what you read was some kinda negative against Sony.... seriously, is that what you got from the comments?

Bro, he was debunking the rumor, and gave perfectly good reasons why it would be unlikely, and your Nintendo Direct comparison is different, as this is supposed to be a BIG Sony showcase, not a surprise 20 min direct, and Sony 's pattern has been one week.

Slow down warmonger.

VersusDMC43m ago(Edited 43m ago)

@thesoftware730

"1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event."

That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind?

And it's not like they need that many resources to cover the stream. They just need 3 people to react to the stream live and make some easy articles made up mostly of summaries of Sony provided press releases. They would have enough time to "prepare" if it was announced with one days notice.

Petebloodyonion1h ago

Before I get tons of replies for Sony given a week in advance, my initial comments are related to the notion that the Show could happen this week as the title mentions.
Now to be fair the complete article mentions that Jeff said the Show could happen later in May giving time for Sony to give the normal 7-day notice.

Again not trying to start a negative thing here just thinking that it's bogus that Sony will have a show this week

notachance29m ago

Yeah as much as I’d like to hear what sony’s 1st parties have cooked, it’s not their style to shadow drop a showcase.

Still waiting for ghost of tsushima 2, I’m ready whenever man..

Square Enix Preparing for Layoffs in U.S. and Europe Amid Heavy Restructuring

Square should ask Sony for more money...

Outside_ofthe_Box3h ago

Square should ask Microsoft to buy them out...

FinalFantasyFanatic1h ago

@Outside_ofthe_Box,
So that Microsoft can close down the studio after doing nothing with them? Right...

gleepot8h ago

Sad but true. It's the consequence of a shift in player habits, massive overhead, and out of control budgets across the industry.

blackblades9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

What did NA and EU did anyways? Just translate or something? I would say it might help them get back to there roots but DK.

Hofstaderman8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Actually, you are correct they play a hand in localization especially in Europe with the many languages. That and marketing.
