According to Reggie Fils-Aimé, communicating the uniqueness of the Nintendo NX and having a great library of games is vital.

they always say they need to do better with software positioning. so for them to say we learn is laughable. and don't expect much in the way of game support either because of the uniqueness. third party are lazy, they do not want to take advanatage of uniqueness

naruga3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

NX= DOA except japan...Nintendo failed to understand why the og Wii had so many sales( curiosity, hype, first on the market with move controls /games but after the first excitement Wii was an ultimate fail along wiht Wii U ) and now they repeating for 3rd time the same idiotic mistake going for uniqueness and gimmickness ...i say if the rumors of the portable/cartridge machine are true, is dead even before was born (and i was from these people who was ultra hyped to buy a current-gen/high end Nintendo console)

gamerb63223d ago

Well the Wii method is working for the ps4 at the moment. All the casuals have flocked to it because of the easy cinematic type games. Press X and you win the whole game.

I'm glad Nintendo games remain challenging with good gameplay. Who knows what the NX is but I'm betting it will be best thing on the market for gamers and not sheep that follow trends.

superchiller3223d ago

@ moldy - Was going to upvote you but when you threw in the comment about 3rd party developers being lazy, you ruined your point. 3rd party developers skipped the Wii U not because of its uniqueness, but because the console was unable to run 8th generation games, due to its poor specs and missing features.

gamerb63223d ago

3rd party were lazy. The ps3 and Xbox 360 are both weaker than the Wii U and had 8th generation games, so that's just another lame excuse used by Nintendo haters and Sony fanboys.

superchiller3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

@ gamerb6 - Read what you wrote again, and think about it. The 8th generation consoles are the PS4 and XB1, not 360 and PS3. The point is that the Wii U simply couldn't deliver games at the level of the 8th generation consoles. Why do you try to bring in the last generation consoles (360 and PS3) to make your point?

gamerb63223d ago

You need to re read what I wrote as clearly your lacking basic English skills. Let me make it a little clearer for you to understand as you can't comprehend.

My point is if last gens consoles have no difficulty running this gens games then neither would Wii U as its more powerful than last gen consoles. Duh.

superchiller3223d ago

@ gamerb6 - Only one massive problem with your failed comparison: None of the last generation consoles can run this generation's games. They're running downgraded versions that aren't even close to the current gen versions. You seem to have a lot of difficulty understanding that, or you're just grasping for straws.

@gamerb6... at least on PS4 you have to press a button , 1000 times better than flailing arms and pads in the room like 9 years old with downs syndrome

Big_Game_Hunters3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

I guess you would be flailing your arms around if you are a dumbass that can't read instructions.

gamerb63223d ago

Last time I checked, thats not how the pro controller works. Do your research.

naruga3223d ago

@gamerb6 last time i checked Wii+U tragedy had no games to use pro-controller ...do you research .

lizard812883223d ago

I think they have said they have learned about getting good games out on their consoles and having no game droughts since the Gamecube days. I have little faith in what they are saying.

CrazedFiend3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

"Every time we launch a new platform, every time we launch a critical new game, we always learn. "

Really. And looking at this graph on your console sales since the NES, what do you learn?

going the unique route again huh? I just want a nintendo console that has all their great IP's, playable with up to par hardware, trophies/achievement system, and a good network infrastructure to communicate and play with friends.

Lon3wolf3223d ago

Yep that has me worried too, I thought they had listened when the NX was first announced, but it now appears they didn't, hope I'm wrong though.

EddieNX 3223d ago

Its pretty much confirmed to be a tablet buddy. So you can stop hoping for a ps4 with NX written on it...

Nintendo is going their own way, which is good cus we have PS,XB and PC if you want that.

fanboysmackdown3223d ago

Spoken like a true flamer fanboy, hope you enjoy another round of little to no third party support.....again.

EddieNX 3223d ago

@Fanboy smackdown, I have an XBone and i'll be upgrading to a Scorpio, that's where i'll be playing my Multiplats. I'm not some idiot who ONLY has Nintendo devices lol. Every generation since SNES i've almost every console out..

Whymii3222d ago

@ Shin
With MS and Sony making my current gen consoles obsolete in the next 12 or so months and new cheap low to mid-spec graphics cards, I'm left wondering what future there is for consoles?

If the experience with consoles is little more than graphics then the PC is looking better and better, particularly given the improved graphics and cheaper game options. Apart from exclusives, there'll be little reason to own a PS4 or Xbone; which can be said for Nintendo WiiU.

I think having an alternative system not so closely related to basic x86 boxed architecture may be the way for Nintendo to go. Don't get me wrong, it may be an x86 machine, but how it is packaged and interacted with by the player needs to offer a different experience.

We'll have answers in the next 12 months if enough people think the same.

Silly gameAr3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

Yeah, I'd rather have something like a a Super NES, N64, or a GameCube, then a Wii or Wii U. I guess I'm just more of a traditional gamer.

conanlifts3223d ago

Every time i start to think positive about the nx Nintendo open their mouth and use words like " unique" "casual audience" " broad appeal" "different". When they say these things i just scream " Nooooooooooo".

NotoriousWhiz3223d ago

I think the uniqueness may come from the detachable controllers rather than the whole hybrid thing. I'm curious to see what they've got. It would also be great to see more first person shooters using motion controls. If NX got overwatch with gyroscope controls, I'd be down for it.

Ristul3223d ago

I hope to god that they don't use motion controls like the Wii did, it's a deal breaker to be honest and I think a lot of people feel the same. Motion control has been done to death during the 8th gen and I think people in general are tired of that.

NotoriousWhiz3223d ago

By no means do they have to force it on gamers like they did with the Wii, but they could certainly include it as an option, especially with this whole detachable controllers thing.

ShadowKnight3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

Can't wait for the NX. Uniqueness is what I want from Nintendo and I guarantee this system will sell well regardless what small % N4G thinks 😅😂😂.

ShadowKnight3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

I'm actually enjoying all my consoles that's what being a true gamer is all about. One day you will learn that. I get to experience everything 😊😆

NXSwitch3223d ago

Not as much as the No Man Sky fanboys are!...(throws deku nut)

NXSwitch3223d ago

Right with ya Link, now lets go save the princess!

ShadowKnight3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

Let's do it. You ready? It's gonna be a long mission buddy 😃😂😂

Nintendo is here to stay rather you like it or not. Game industry for life 😏😅

EddieNX 3223d ago

Definitely with you there. A hybrid Tablet NX sounds AMAZING. The next gen of pokemon games are going to be fit to play on tv ffs!

I also play all platforms and am happy Nintendo is different from the rest.

Antnee5343223d ago

I like the difference but I hate that make sub par consoles, because if they would make a console with equally or more strength than the ps4 I would like to buy these third party titles as well on my nintendo console hut they never come to the system because of lack or power

DillyDilly3223d ago

I'll wait for the emulator if I don't like what Im hearing at least the new Zelda will eventually be playable on the Wii U emulator

EddieNX 3223d ago

That's absolutly incredible that you will be playing BOTW on an emulator :|

I'll be playing it on a Nintendo NX like a normal person. I'll also be paying for my clothes as well as oposed to say, shop lifting them.

DillyDilly3223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

Im not buying any game on the Wii U yet until Nintendo finally announces & details the NX & decide if I want it or not

jmc88883223d ago (Edited 3223d ago )

A normal person would realize that buying a game and playing it on the emulator is perfectly legal.

Also, on the NX isn't necessarily normal. Most people will likely play it on the Wii U, seeing how the NX doesn't look to be very much of an upgrade, and with it's rumored crazy handheld focus, many Wii U owners (a console), aren't going to be buying an NX.

You know apples and oranges. Just because NIntendo says their handheld is a console, doesn't mean I'll actually believe that it truly is one.

True, they have pretty different audiences..and some People just have both at home or a PS and a PC that emulates more or less everything from Nintendo.

Knightofelemia5d ago

Xbox hasn't been a competitor since the XB360. Last generation and this generation Sony has been running circles around Xbox. As for Sony vs Nintendo Sony runs circles yes but I don't really see Nintendo as competition. Nintendo does their own thing and it works.

Lightning775d ago

Details are important. Console sales yes. Overall games Xbox seems to be doing fairly well in that department.

LoveSpuds4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

MS were doing so well that they had to start selling their games on their main competitors system which in turn results in around 30% of each sale going to Sony as the platform holder.

I do think tjat MS' fortunes will improve now that they are actually selling games rather than giving them away for pennies on the dollar.

Something that occurs to me is that the more success MS published games have elsewhere, the more stark it will become that selling games is much more profitable than renting them. If that becomes highly noticable, I wonder what the shareholders (who ultimately run the show) will make of a service which has stagnated for years?

crazyCoconuts4d ago

PlayStation doesn't compete with third party games, they compete on consoles. They profit from third party games. If you're not comparing consoles there's no point in comparing.

drivxr5d ago

Console wars are over.

Eventually, everyone else will catch up to this fact.

attilayavuzer5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

I think it's all PS fans have left at this point. Console wars were always a competition for fourth place behind Nintendo, PC and mobile. If Xbox evaporates into a hybrid virtual platform, then PS will be perennially left in last place.

Christopher5d ago

Strange, I recall all those FCC documents and witness testimonies saying the exact opposite... Guess Microsoft doesn't know what it's talking about?

PanicMechanic4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Great analysis. Just joking.

Pretending like companies give a f about where they “rank” against each other is just super retarded. This isn’t the World Cup.

Tell me, how does “PC” compete against a brand like PlayStation? It just doesn’t make sense at all. What you just said, is complete and utter nonsense

BlaqMagiq14d ago

I don't think PS cares about being in this so-called "last place" you came up with when they're making profits hand over fist.

microsoft wanted to crush sony into dust and they had the money to do it, but with such weak leadership it was always going to fail

Reaper22_5d ago

Had the money? They still have the money but the industry has changed since xbox 360. Microsoft is the number one publisher in gaming. I'd hardly call that failing.

IRetrouk5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

The industry hasn't changed though, just ms, Microsoft was the no1 publisher for a month in december 2024, the actual no1 for fy2024 was tencent if game sales are all that's being counted.

Money doesn't mean you'll be successful large corporations have entered and failed before like Nec
