That's pretty weird. Is it sn extension or was this already part of the plan?? Maybe they're expecting a big increase in new players with rise of iron.

nX2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

People still play Destiny? I can't even remember when I deleted it from my PS4... I think at the same moment I realized Activision is ripping people off with a game built around DLC (once again).

ninsigma2805d ago

Millions still play and I've just jumped back on this week. Believe it or not, it's actually massively fun to play. Mechanically wise, it's one of the best this gen. As for feeling ripped off, well that's up to each gamer but I don't fell that way as I've put hundreds of enjoyable hours in that have more than made up the cost of entry.

NewMonday2805d ago

I stopped playing Destiny but must say it was value for money when I play hundreds of hours of Co-Op and competitive MP.

rocketpanda2805d ago

Oh FFS, this type of comment again. Yes, obviously people do. If not why renew it or why keep making content? There is obviously a fan as for it.

You don't like it, that your problem. I personally stopped playing after completing the Taken King and probably won't get Rise of Iron, but many still do.

Keep that snarky mentally challenged quote "do people still play destiny" for your dribbling friends.

domford19812805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

You people are getting boring now with this same comment spewed out on every destiny article.

Many many people, including myself still enjoy this game, don't read the article if you don't, and don't post these pointless comments, cheers

Yui_Suzumiya2805d ago

Haven't started yet beyond the beta in 2014. Waiting for the final complete Edition before I finally get into it :3

Kenshin_BATT0USAI2804d ago

People still make comments like this?

sullynathan2804d ago

It is still one of the most played console games. Why do you think Activision still releases pricy expansions and collection packs?

Unspoken2804d ago (Edited 2804d ago )

Xbox gamers shouldn't waste any more time or money on this game and let Bungie go.

There isn't enough content as it is and this is just a further slap in the face. Gamers don't like timed/dlc exclusives.

Millions... Where'd you pull this stat from?

ifistbrowni2804d ago (Edited 2804d ago )

lol, no surprise that the 1st response in the comments is - "people still play destiny?"

I literally laugh at folks who share that point of view. I thought the game was weak during Year 1 - quit playing after clearing Vault of Glass on Hard a few times (reached level 30 on my titan, 29 on both Hunter and Warlock). I knew the game was hot trash, but kept playing it.

When TTK released and all my friends were playing it and nagging me to play with them, I was reluctant. Man, am I glad I came back! TTK delivered every expectation I had with Destiny Year 1 (not that I had much expectation - didn't follow the game at all pre-launch). It had multiple avenues to level up your character and the Raid featured fantastic experiences.

Folks who hate on Destiny are one of many laughing stocks of the internet. TTK felt overpriced before I purchased it, but after I experienced it there is no doubt in my mind that it could've damn near been a stand-alone retail release on it's own.

Counting down the Days til Rise of Iron. Haven't played Destiny since January-ish. Looking forward to getting the band back together and mastering another raid. Heres to another year and another 100+ hours spent on Destiny content (for the 3rd year in a row)

Destiny is pretty cheap as part of the summer sale at the moment. £21 gets you the base game and taken king and the 2 other DLC packs. When I first played Destiny I didn't like it. It just felt like Halo and I dislike Halo. But recently after a friend kept bugging me to buy it again and give it time. I did so and now I love it.

Can't wait for rise of iron.

ninsigma2805d ago

That's awesome. Glad you liked it the second time or that would have been money wasted xD I'm looking forward to rise of iron too. I generally just come back to play when big expansions come out. Play for a couple months then move on to other things. Best way for me to play it so that I can still enjoy it when new content arrives. I don't know how others can play any game non stop for years xD

SimpleYet_Not2805d ago

Millions? Not really, more like 3 thousand.

ninsigma2805d ago

If that's what you actually think, you're too deluded by your own hatred xD

ninsigma2805d ago

Well if you're gonna make up a silly number like that to try put down a game I can only assume you're a hater ;)

SimpleYet_Not2805d ago

Well, you sound stupid. But it's only your opinion and nothing else.

ninsigma2805d ago

Coming from someone who thinks only 3000 people playing destiny, I won't be too concerned by your assessment of how I sound :)

SimpleYet_Not2804d ago

I'm going to just let this kid keep his ego,bc all he's going to do is type random words to make himself think he has a point. Say no more.

People were saying it's because the deal was until the release of Destiny 2, and because that game is behind schedule, it extends the content exclusivity another year.

Basically, this content was designed to be exclusive until everyone was playing the new game, it might be easier if XBOX owners just forget about it. Personally I'd speak with my wallet if I was dissatisfied.

TwoForce2805d ago

I have to say. I agree with you. The game is fun really.

-Foxtrot2805d ago

Urgh...Sony come on. What a waste of money. Just let Xbox owners have it, the game is not all that great anyway

NewMonday2805d ago

it's just a marketing deal that co-promotes the game on PSN and the game in return promotes PS4, games need PSN promotion badly in the digital age.it's like they have the power of a mini-Gamestop

Kribwalker2805d ago

My problem is both console players are paying the same amount, but PS owners are getting extra strikes, which is a big piece of the DLC, especially when before there was very few strikes. It's not the same as those shitty bonuses you get from some games are very light, here you have a lot of extra content.

Benchm4rk2805d ago

If it was just a marketing deal then I wouldn't have a problem. But when I am charged the same price as someone who purchases it on PlayStation but they get extra content then that's a problem. They get extra weapons, Armour and extra strike missions for the same price. If it was for 30 days or 3 months then I wouldn't see it as a huge problem but it was for 12 months and now looks like extended for another 12 months. 2 years of exclusive content that by the time it's not exclusive anymore Destiny 2 will be out and everything will be left behind and obsolete from Destiny 1

NewMonday2805d ago

@Benchm4rk

because PSN has value, Activision are basically buying front page display space, to lower costs both parties trade value instead of dollars, Sony wouldn't give Destiny the space for free.

DafunkyRebel2804d ago

Its not all that great because its amazing mate

lelo2play2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

Xbox gamers won't loose much. Just forget about this game because there are much better games getting released in 2016.

TwoForce2805d ago

I don't want to say this, but the game got a lot of support from community. There are still people playing the game.

Benchm4rk2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

I've just got back into it after putting it away for 8 months. Looking forward to Rise of Iron

rocketpanda2805d ago

Keep telling yourself that. It's like saying, "we didn't want it anyway". I bet many Xbox owners would love to have a chance to add the taken King content.

Kribwalker2804d ago

I would like access to that content, I'm not gonna lie, I still play that game consistently. I took about a month and a half off when the division came out but since I've been playing a lot again

sullynathan2804d ago

It really is one of the most played games on consoles. Can't just ignore that

DafunkyRebel2804d ago

Lol Destiny is the best game on Xbone, not even joking.

lelo2play2804d ago (Edited 2804d ago )

If you actually believe that, then you have very poor taste in games.

So the game continues to be a rental or second hand buy for the duration of said deal or till they are on sale for pennies on the dollar . Enjoy Activision /Bungie

@TheColbertinator Those are games this crap here is BS DLC big difference between the cost of both .

The Destiny Franchise is at its Brightest When Embracing its Darkness

Here, Twinfinite is writing that Destiny, despite being a T rated franchise, is full of dark and brooding moments that showcase the best of the team's narrative potential. They further write that, while Destiny 2 has not delivered as much as it should have on this front, Forsaken appears to be the big step that it needs to return to its greatest moments.

Gazette gaming columnist Jake Magee's lack of skill at Destiny is what made going flawless in Trials of Osiris more than a year ago taste so sweet. The feeling wasn't as great when he did the same in Destiny 2 last week, he writes.

you can tell these reviewers spent no time in the 1st destiny

The_KELRaTH2416d ago

I wonder if they'll re-review it after completing the 12hr campaign and levelled up to 265

Phoxel2416d ago

I wrote this review after beating the campaign, reaching 273 power, completing two of the three exotic quests, completing every adventure, playing plenty of Crucible, and much more.

Phoxel2416d ago

Hi, I wrote this review. I logged 32 days in Destiny 1.

DELTABOY042409d ago

how is destiny 2 a 9.5 while missing many features from the first game, weapon balance issues, lack luster exotics, boring strikes, and no dedicated servers..i like the game a lot for what it offers..but its no where near a 9.5..closer to a 7.5..they didnt add enough for this to even feel like a proper sequel
