Destiny: The Taken King PS Exclusives Extended Another Year

Destiny: The Taken King's PlayStation Exclusives are going to remain exclusive another year, and not come to Xbox consoles until at least Fall 2017

People still play Destiny? I can't even remember when I deleted it from my PS4... I think at the same moment I realized Activision is ripping people off with a game built around DLC (once again).

Millions still play and I've just jumped back on this week. Believe it or not, it's actually massively fun to play. Mechanically wise, it's one of the best this gen. As for feeling ripped off, well that's up to each gamer but I don't fell that way as I've put hundreds of enjoyable hours in that have more than made up the cost of entry.

I literally laugh at folks who share that point of view. I thought the game was weak during Year 1 - quit playing after clearing Vault of Glass on Hard a few times (reached level 30 on my titan, 29 on both Hunter and Warlock). I knew the game was hot trash, but kept playing it.

When TTK released and all my friends were playing it and nagging me to play with them, I was reluctant. Man, am I glad I came back! TTK delivered every expectation I had with Destiny Year 1 (not that I had much expectation - didn't follow the game at all pre-launch). It had multiple avenues to level up your character and the Raid featured fantastic experiences.

Folks who hate on Destiny are one of many laughing stocks of the internet. TTK felt overpriced before I purchased it, but after I experienced it there is no doubt in my mind that it could've damn near been a stand-alone retail release on it's own.

Counting down the Days til Rise of Iron. Haven't played Destiny since January-ish. Looking forward to getting the band back together and mastering another raid. Heres to another year and another 100+ hours spent on Destiny content (for the 3rd year in a row)

Destiny is pretty cheap as part of the summer sale at the moment. £21 gets you the base game and taken king and the 2 other DLC packs. When I first played Destiny I didn't like it. It just felt like Halo and I dislike Halo. But recently after a friend kept bugging me to buy it again and give it time. I did so and now I love it.

Can't wait for rise of iron.

That's awesome. Glad you liked it the second time or that would have been money wasted xD I'm looking forward to rise of iron too. I generally just come back to play when big expansions come out. Play for a couple months then move on to other things. Best way for me to play it so that I can still enjoy it when new content arrives. I don't know how others can play any game non stop for years xD

People were saying it's because the deal was until the release of Destiny 2, and because that game is behind schedule, it extends the content exclusivity another year.

Basically, this content was designed to be exclusive until everyone was playing the new game, it might be easier if XBOX owners just forget about it. Personally I'd speak with my wallet if I was dissatisfied.

My problem is both console players are paying the same amount, but PS owners are getting extra strikes, which is a big piece of the DLC, especially when before there was very few strikes. It's not the same as those shitty bonuses you get from some games are very light, here you have a lot of extra content.

If it was just a marketing deal then I wouldn't have a problem. But when I am charged the same price as someone who purchases it on PlayStation but they get extra content then that's a problem. They get extra weapons, Armour and extra strike missions for the same price. If it was for 30 days or 3 months then I wouldn't see it as a huge problem but it was for 12 months and now looks like extended for another 12 months. 2 years of exclusive content that by the time it's not exclusive anymore Destiny 2 will be out and everything will be left behind and obsolete from Destiny 1

because PSN has value, Activision are basically buying front page display space, to lower costs both parties trade value instead of dollars, Sony wouldn't give Destiny the space for free.

Even though I have it on PS4 and am loving it. I hate these exclusive event/dlc deals. Xbox players pay the same as PS4 players for this game so why do they not get to play these events? Same when it comes to FIFA and Legends. PlayStation players pay the same for the game. But miss out on the legends because of the exclusive deal MS have with EA.

Agreed, I am the same way, but if Sony or Microsoft did not do it on certain games deals, they know each sides Corporation heads would try to get a rather sweet deal with Developers and or publishers if they feel said game or IP can doing something for their consideration of their platforms in the game console market.

No doubt it would be pretty awesome if all games made it to any platform that you may own..but that's just never going to apply , since they are all separate companies.

Which you already and many on here already know. But it's just the nature of the market beast. From Patents, to software design copy rights..it's the point of making once was a Hobby into a business.. It turns the ugly side out into the open..I do not know if your old enough to remember white label disc based sharewares at convention's back in the early 80's it was more of a simpler enjoy electronic computer gaming without all of the business practices we have today mucking up the Hobby aspects of it..but in defense of it today.

Look at all the software that we have today..some fantastic visual and immersion gaming unseen except for the imagination. Now it's a reality.

To me having to wait over because of these marketing or co-support development or publishing deals is just the nature of how things in the business world works in the software industry we have today.

But with such Game's we have today, I just feel it's a trade off I can live with, the software way back in the day , many games were fun, but these games today are just in my opinion something out of imagination as a kid we could only dream of back in the 70's and 80's but today is a reality.

Games like Halo series , forza, Uncharted, GrandTheft Auto V, no man's Sky, little big planet, dreams, Mario world, Pokémon Go, shadowrun: dragon fall, Fallout 3 & 4, Drive club, crackdown, R&C, GT, Now we have VR not just early type of VR experience from the 80's , but VR that has just a over all better immersion and sense of Presence not really found in VR before until now.

I feel I am rather fortunate to have lived this long to see it. As a gamer and as someone in the business myself.

Yup it sucks excluding content from people and yeah it would make sense to charge less but that would make the whole deal pointless. The whole point of these deals is to offer incentives to choose one version over the other but if the other version is cheaper because of that then that's giving the competition (from sonys point of view) a free incentive to buy their version while Sony pays.

Why? I play on Ps4, but I hate when companies do this. I say give it to them. It's been a year. I don't like having to wait for Fallout 4 mods on Ps4, so I can't imagine Destiny players on x1 are pleased about this.

Especially because by the time the year is up, there is no challenge to the strike anymore. There's only a challenge when you're playing it when it first comes out. By the time the xbox guys get to play, it's a cake walk for the level they'd be at by them.

I love Destiny and play it on both systems. I can't say I noticed any really big difference between either version. So the content must not be all that extensive. That being said though I'm new to psn and could use some people to do the raids with :)

Can't remember which one it was but the exclusive content is pretty much just a strike. Everything else is the same. As for raids, joint a clan is a good way to get people to play with. I don't think you get the point of this game. It's something the experienced while everything is fresh. There's not going to be any point in playing most of the content because it will not give you up to date gear. That's going to be 3 raids and prison of elders that you will miss out on. I'm pretty sure you can get the game with all of its content for 60 bucks once the rise of iron is out.

'theres no sense in "waiting for the final product". no one is going to be playing the vault of glass raid, the dark below raid, or the taken king raid because a. its old and b. the gear from those raids will be useless. also in case you havnt heard destiny is a 10 year game... thats a pretty long wait for the "final product"
