XBOX Scorpio vs. PS4 Neo - Which Will Deliver the Best Overall Experience?

Having a more powerful option doesn't always prove to be the success of a console, and this article explores what we should expect from the two upcoming juggernaut 4K console offerings.

We don't know the specs of the neo yet, all we have heard is rumors. Lets hope both consoles are as powerful. But if we were to decide based on rumors, the scorpio will most likely have the best overall experience

sammarshall1023176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

The Scorpio will do 4K, 1080p 60fps better and greater graphical fidelity so yes the Scorpio

Kingthrash3603176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

The neo will do 4k, 1080 60 too. Lol will have more games, affordable vr, be cheaper, has exclusives, and more developers working on more games.
The best overall experience dosent equal power...that's the point of the article....power never gives the best overall experience. ..its the games.
See ps2,ps1, and the 360. All were weaker all had better experiences (the 360 up until the last 3 years when ms stopped bringing g games for it.)
Hell the wii sold 110 million that destroyed the more powerful ps360...smh.
With all that said, we know nothing of the neo and barley anything about the scorpio .too soon to speculate anyway

Moldy...
Bro you are always on articles boasting anything xbox....instead of wanting at least equal.
Do I think the scorpio will be stronger. ..yes I do...will that make it better...no it wont. ...at the total end of the day games and pricing matter most. If power mattered and price didnt then the PC would be the lead in gaming.
The problem with scorpio is it will be sharing it's games with PC....and will lose in every comparison. People who own a pc can just get xbox games on pc. That, isn't a scorpio killer....but it's painful. Exclusives are very important when in competitive sales, when it comes to selling consoles. The more consoles you sell, the more developers will want to make games for it. Developers like power but like money more. Money is the main draw here, not fans. The scorpio will never compete with the neo on a sales level becuse MS doesn't have that huge a name in gaming. It will always be behind and even more so without exclusives. ..and "premium priceed" sounds pretty expensive to me...and if I'mma go expensive for power I may as well go pc....have more power same price same games....smh but I guess I'm trolling because of mistakes made by MS.

GameNameFame3176d ago

@Sammarshall

-Depends on exclusive and cost.
-Given Xbox doesnt have exclusive and going Steambox route, it loses big point there.
-People may just opt for PC over Xbox for this reason. Or already have PC and wont bother.

@Kingthrash360
"The neo will do 4k, 1080 60 too. Lol will have more games, affordable vr, be cheaper, has exclusives, and more developers working on more games."

how can it be more affordable if you imply it has no exclusives? see, that is where you fail time and time again because you keep assuming everyone will now get into pc gaming because xbox games are going there. if that's the case a ps4 and pc is not cheaper.

"The best overall experience dosent equal power...that's the point of the article....power never gives the best overall experience. ..its the games."

and again the irony of your comment was vr will be more expensive but in this case vr will be a better experience if you have more powerful hardware. it's ok, sony will still see you as a valued customer if you give any props to microsoft, you don't need to be at odds with them to be a valued customer.

"With all that said, we know nothing of the neo and barley anything about the scorpio .too soon to speculate anyway"

but your mind is already set about which one will be better and your attitude about scorpio proves no matter what details are coming you won't change regardless because you seem more interested in downplaying scorpio than looking forward to neo.

@moldy

"you seem more interested in downplaying scorpio than looking forward to neo."

Sounds rich coming from someone mostly downplaying in the PS articles. Pot and kettle and all that.

akbennyewu3176d ago

Kingthrash360, how do you spend your entire statement speculating, and then summarize how we cannot speculate yet? Which is it?

3176d ago
NewMonday3176d ago

since we are talking about consoles over a year away

PS5 will do 4K, 1080p 60fps better and greater graphical fidelity so yes the PS5

...and so on and so forth

ShadowKnight3176d ago

@Speaktruthalways that was hilarious 😅😅

Artemidorus3176d ago

Based on zero facts, good job.

@sammarshall102

Not disputing what your saying, but even going by Microsoft most recent discussion of 4k, 60 fps gaming, if you take time to read between the lines they are actually distancing themselves from those specs being definitive! Here's how, they have shifted the focus to the developers, and although it's up to the developers to do what they deem fit concerning their software. The actual game development lingo is very loosely worded. Meaning there's no specific resolution minimum. So if a developer decides to do the bare minimum by Microsofts own blessings they're allowed too.

My thing is Microsoft have made some pretty lofty promises, and some of them still haven't panned out! The Cloud was in effect touted in a manner that for all case and purpose there was no need for Scorpio to begin with, now the Cloud is gone with the wind. Microsoft even boasted the Xbox 1 was also able to do 1080p, 60fps gaming consistently too. In reality the majority of the Xbox 1 games fall below that.

Personally I don't know what Neo is going to be or do! But from a hardware perspective I know what Sony can do from a hardware standpoint. Like Kigthrash360 said the PS4 is already winning in the most important area Games! Sony has the Mind shares, Market shares and Install base to continue its forward momentum, and truthfully I don't think Scorpio is going to make a world of difference concerning that.

@BakPAin

Why would you set a standard for your product and allow others to cut around it!? Serious question.

That like saying you have a toilet in your bathroom but letting people s"#t on your lawn

LexHazard793176d ago

@stuna, their not distancing themselves from it. They're clarifying it for people like you and Bruce.

They already said although Scorpio will be able to do 4K gaming. Its not madated that developers do 4K. As they can use the resources as they please.

freshslicepizza3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

@SpeakTruthAlways

I have always been supported of the ps4 Neo and know if will do well.

The best option out there would be to build a powerful pc for your main gaming and get a ps4 Neo for its exclusives. But who is going to invest that much to have the best scenario? Not many which is why console gamers will still use their consoles to buy no man's land and Forza horizon 3

What percentage of current ps4 owners have a decent pc they use it for gaming? Not much it seems going by recent sales of no man's sky. Will PS4 owners make the shift when buying future games like the next call of duty? No. Sony is also marketing the Neo to counter those who are thinking of PC gaming. So if ps4 owners aren't actually going on that direction then the Xbox still has games that are not coming to Sony consoles. It's an empty argument to make unless you are practicing what you preach. I don't imagine very many will invest in ps4 Neo just for exclusives. Even Sony knows this.

medman3176d ago

@sammarshall102
Microsoft has got another one the the hook I see....it doesn't seem to matter how many lies Microsoft sells, some sad sacks will believe it hook, line, and sinker. Without fail. I'm hoping for a 4k 60fps console like anybody...hell, I'm still waiting for a single graphics card that will do 4k@60fps at ultra settings. But if a 1200 dollar, near 12 teraflop gpu cannot achieve consistent 4k@60fps across all games, what kind of mind let's you believe a 6 tflop console with a weaker everything is going to get it done?

On topic:

Graphical grunt? Scorpio without a doubt, it's almost a year apart from the Neo.

SpeakTruthAlways3176d ago

Scorpio will be likely launching 1 year after neo so what's the big deal about scorpio being more powerful than neo? Leave it to xbox fanboys to make a big deal about even the most basic of things.

LexHazard793176d ago

@speak, seems you're the one makinga big deal about it. Lol.

Aceman183176d ago

Unless MS 1st party studios can deliver games that take risks, and different IPs instead of the same old halo, forza, and gears I'll say Neo because we know on that system will get not only the continuation of mainstays, but we'll also get brand new IPs because they do take risks.

Raiden3176d ago

Foe me its the one with the best multiplayer games, I hate single player games they are so antisocial, what I find is most of Sony in house game are, what's the point in completing a game and putting it down to gather dust because there is no other interest, at least with multiplayer games you have that option, so for me it's the console that offers that.

sammarshall1023176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

What about 3rd party and 1st party together

Scalebound, State of Decay 2, Recore, Crackdown 3, Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Quantum Break, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Sea of Thieves, Titanfall, Ori, Max and the Curse of the Brotherhood

noksucow733176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

Why does everyone bash Microsoft for supposedly not taking risks on new ips?Quantam Break, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, and inside were new ips. Recore and Scale bound are on their way. Has Sony released that many more new ips? I have The Order 1866 for my ps4, but I'm not aware of all these other new ips? I know of Until Dawn, but i didn't buy that .

343_Guilty_Spark3176d ago

We already know the specs give it a rest. The developer docs have been vetted several times. Euro gamer essentially confirmed they are true.

ziggurcat3176d ago

"We already know the specs give it a rest..."

no. we don't.

LexHazard793176d ago

We dont know the specs of Scorpio either. Other than Neo double gpu power. And Scorpios supposed 6tflop.

DeeBeers3176d ago

Scorpio will obviously have a superior experience.

OB1Biker3176d ago

I have no doubt the PS4 Neo will deliver the very best experience on playstation exclusive games.
Regarding multiplat it makes sense the console released one (or two?) year later should deliver better at a price but then PC would probably be even better.

Kokyu3176d ago

Actually we know far more about Neo's proposed spec than we do about Scorpios. We know the CPU is an up clocked 8 core Jag, up clocked 8gigs GDDR5 memory and up clocked AMD GPU. Scorpio we just have 6tflops, 8 cores and 12gigs of ram.

The next year will be interesting. Sony has 4 hardware profiles out and MS has 3.......

One with the best software

Rude-ro3176d ago

It is subjective but a limited subjective has a limited fanbase. i.e. Microsofts current situation.

MasterCornholio3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

Good question.

Now assuming that all rumors are true.

Project Scorpio should be the most powerful system and offer the best experience with multiplats. So if someone wants the best visuals and framerate that system will be their number one choice.

However when it comes to software that's debatable. I could easily claim that NEO will have the best software because of developers like NaughtDog but somebody can easily counter that by saying that they don't like NaughtDog games. What's evident is that PlayStation will be the only place to play Sony first party games while Microsoft will produce games for Xbox and Windows. That could influence the decision of somebody looking to buy the systems.

My recommendation is to just wait and see what the final specs and price will be. Then after seeing the software lineup decide which one will be the best purchase. That's what I did with the X1 and PS4 and I'll do the same with PS4 and NEO.

PizzaSteve3176d ago

Neo will be better. It don't mater which is powerful. It mostly matters which have the better games and to me that's Neo.

lastking953176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

What games are coming to the neo? See you're mind is already made up regardless.

@spectre i didn't disagree with you soooo lol (your comment applies to those disagreeing me) I'm not a blind fanboy like some here. The kid said neo will have the better games and all i ask what games? WE DONT KNOW. Just like Scorpio which i didn't bring up so you bring up scorpio shows your mind is made up to regardless. you look at my comment in here you'll see I've said it's too early to say cause we have 0 clue about the systems, from game to specs. #TheUnbiasedOne something you might never know about

If your loyal to a brand just say so don't be fake and act like your buy is up for grabs.

trooper_3176d ago

What games are coming to Scorpio, aside from the ones coming already?

....Cricket chirp

Gitgud3176d ago

PS4 is getting great exclusives on the yearly, Xbox gets Forza and some Recore-esc shit. Just saying.

trooper_3176d ago

So disagrees and no response?
Guess I touched a nerve then.

stuna13176d ago

Why would you ask a crazy question like that? All PS4 games are coming to Neo. Meaning what's playable on the original PS4 will play on Neo.

Tedakin3176d ago

Since no one knows all the specs of either console.... ya know....

MasterCornholio3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

We do know that Scorpio will have a 6TF GPU and 12GBs of high speed memory.

If I'm not mistaken Microsoft confirmed that at E3. We don't know about the HDD and the CPU though.

@Rude

This is hardware specs that we are talking about. Microsoft can deliver an Xbox One with those specifications if they wanted too. It's not like having a 6TF GPU and 12GBs of ram is unproven technology.

Rude-ro3176d ago

Yes but Microsoft over promises almost everything they do do they not? Kinect? The cloud? Etc...

meche3343176d ago

its rumored to be getting bumped up to 8tflops. idk how true it is but.

Rude-ro3176d ago

I know what we are talking about and I am also well aware Microsoft never delivers on their hype.
There is no argument here. This is historical fact with the company.

UN Squadron, Stunt Race FX, Top Gear 2, Nigel Mansell F1, Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Adam's Family, Super Probotector. Top 3 for me, Mario Kart, Legend of the Mystical Ninja and Mario World. It kills me that the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo generation has gone. Going from a Commodore 64 to a Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, the much higher costs of games, I couldn't play them all.
