PS3 Bluetooth® Headset Video

This headset will be offered in one retail version of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation this October, as well as a standalone peripheral this fall. It features a prominent Mute button and a Charging Cradle. It will work with not only your PS3 but with Bluetooth enabled cell phones. But this is information that you already know about. Today we want to talk about some really cool features of this Headset that we have been working on behind the scenes. These features will be unlocked by the PS3 through a firmware update that is scheduled for this fall.

* The headset will feature "High-Quality (HQ) mode" with PS3. In this mode, the headset will take advantage of advanced voice technologies and noise cancellation techniques to provide clear and wideband voice input to the PS3. The HQ mode will ensure a much better voice chat quality on the PS3.
* HQ mode will also enable accurate speech recognition required to support or enhance 'Voice Command' and 'Voice Animation' features. Voice Command was originally used in SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs for PS2 to administer the AI-controlled teammates using the WHO, WHAT, and WHERE format (example: Bravo, Attack, Nav Point Zulu). Voice Animation refers to the in-game character mimicking you during voice chat. With HQ mode, these features can be enabled on a much larger vocabulary in select PS3 games.
* PS3 will display an in-game status indicator exclusively for this headset that will show the headset's connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status.
* Tired of wearing the headset during a long multiplayer gaming session or is your headset battery running out of charge? Just dock the headset in the supplied charging cradle, and the headset will work as a desktop microphone while charging.
* Last but not least, the headset will automatically pair with the PS3 by connecting with a USB cable.

SCEA was one of the first companies to popularize VoIP technology within a console videogame through SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs for PS2. As you can see, we have made a great effort to expand on this legacy and develop the most compelling headset for the PS3 community. We are really excited to bring it to market this fall with the SOCOM: Confrontation bundle ($59.99 MSRP) and as a standalone peripheral ($49.99 MSRP).

I love how almost all gamer news sites for some reason stopped mentioning the docking Mic ability out of no where, but said all the same details as we already knew, just to leave this major function out.

Time for another conspiracy theory guys!

I'm definitely going to purchase the game + headset. Plus more people will own mics which is a plus for me and team work.

supremacy5762d ago

i really wish...

sony would fix and add a few things before i can say im fully satisfy with psn period.

not for nothing but... i would love to see...

the ability to in game xmb and also play in game music, and the ability to send messages while im using the playstation store, seriously this needs to be address. i mean if i can do so while im browsing the net, while cant i do so while im browsing the ps store?

you see that above doesn't make much sense to me.

next i would love for sony to add a (sent to all recipients) or (all selected recipients) feature.

these/this feature/s should work with both voice and text messages.

and like i said before Cross chat & voice mail system.

now once these minor features and issues are address than ill keep my mouth shut and play my games a bit more often.

poopsack5762d ago

i agree with you, but you can already send to all, send it to one person and then go to that message you sent, press triangle and choose edit, there you can send it to selected people. but i agree with you on the voice messages thing, and cross game chat. that would be cool, i like that about xbox live.

PS: This headset rockZ!

OOG5762d ago

While trying not to be too harsh....as of right now I still think PSN is a joke and people who think its interface is even close to xbox lives....need to get off the crack......

but... hopfully home may fix all of the issue it has...whenever that is....and my god just simplify everything....you need to perform multiple steps to do simple tasks and I'm not really sure why

poopsack5762d ago (Edited 5762d ago )

beautiful. I need monies. :C

Edit: why am i now more excited for this, even though I just saw what I already knew but in video form? Its awesome!

Shadow of the Colossus and Ico should be remade in UE5. I know Shadow of the Colossus was in 2018 but I say remake both of them for PS5 and PC.

isarai7h ago

The remake and Blupoints in house engine is more impressive as a whole than anything ive seen from UE5 so far. Id rather they stick to their own engine.

FinalFantasyFanatic1h ago

I wouldn't mind a PC port even though I own it on PS4, it really doesn't need a remake though.

DarXyde10h ago

Shadow of the Colossus is kind of a perfect game, at least to me.

Man, this has me nostalgic. I know how I'm spending my Sunday evening.

robtion2h ago

It's really timeless. Put SOTC together with The Last Guardian and ICO and you have one amazing trilogy. I think Fumito Ueda is a genuine auteur.

chicken_in_the_corn10h ago

I tried the remake but couldn't get into it. Time to give it another go.

Elda10h ago

I tried both versions of the game & I can never get past the 4th boss.

Inverno8h ago

Well if anyone else can't get enough of this game you should check out Project Tribute. Basically a fan remake with all the cut colossi for PC.

isarai6h ago

HOLY CRAP!!! why have i mever heard of this?! They even got the worm! Of all the cut ones the worm was the most fascinating to me

My main complaint about the series is that it mixes Disney characters and Final Fantasy characters, but they are actually not important at all to the plot. I read summaries and watched videos about the series, even played the music game which tries to summarize the plot of each game, and the Disney and FF stuff are barely mentioned at all.
All the series really is, is an amalgamation of convoluted plots that tries too hard to be mysterious and edgy, with some cameos to attract fans of Disney and FF, who wouldn't care at all about the franchise otherwise.

Heck, even in the trailer above, the Disney/FF characters are... just there.
