5 reasons why Pokemon GO sucks

You love Pokemon GO, right? So did we, in our Pokemon GO review. But don't let that fool you. We actually hated it.* It's probably the worst game to have ever hit the App Store. And here's why… Gyms s...

Haven't even played it lol, reminds me of a sh**ty version of dream radar

It's actually a fantastic game, and that's coming from someone who has always hated mobile games.

It has taken me to places I would've never been before, makes me walk 5 hours a day on average, and has made me meet lots of people. You play this even at 2 am and you meet tons of people playing it. Men and women in their mid-20s or early-30s, who have families and serious jobs, but who decide to play pokemon anyway. It's beautiful. It brings people together. It's kind of a tangible confirmation that our generation will not end up boring, angry and close-minded like the generations before ours.

TL;DR: PokeGO players are going outside, getting ripped and making friends. That's quite an achievement for a video game. If you're avoiding this game out of pure elitism / conservatism / jealousy, then you are truly missing out on something special that won't last forever. Just join the fun while it lasts

That being said, combat is just not fun. They could definitely improve that

Utalkin2me3210d ago

Im sorry all i can do is SMH....so you're saying the generation before was boring, angry and close minded. You actually sound like everyone of those things, by making that comment.

And far as the game itself, i find it shallow, boring and not very entertaining.

UltimateMaster3210d ago

I love the concept of walking around and catching Pokemon on your phone.
It makes it social and you can meet people.
What I don't like is everything else.
You don't get to fight the Pokemon first before catching it.
You can't even play directly against other players, which defeats the purpose of a social game of playing together.
You only play against an AI version of their Pokemon in a Gym.
And the battles aren't all that good.
You can't evolve your Pokemon by fighting other Pokemon.
.... I am just not interested.
It makes me think of Marvel: Contest of Champions.
You get to play your beloved character, except you don't choose which Hero or Villain you get from crystals.
And all the fighting are the same, repetitive attack/charge/block mechanic, facing against enemies buffed up to insane levels where they want you to pay to get the characters you want.
F*** them mobile games.

MagicBeanz3210d ago

"players are going outside, getting ripped" LOL, that moment that you realize this comment is full of shit.

Errorist763210d ago

The only thing that I don't like about it that it distracts people from working against and realising all the evil that is building up in the world these days. There are new Nazis on the rise and people play Pokemon. It's kinda sad.

rainslacker3210d ago (Edited 3210d ago )

If this generation needs a reason to go out and walk and meet people, and the only connection they can make is through a game, that sounds like it would mean this generation IS boring, and will likely end up that way because it's boring now. Also, every generation ends up angry and close minded....kind of the nature of getting old....sad as it is. People just become cynical as they get older, and playing Pokemon Go for a while isn't going to change that. It's funny you claim you're criticizing people for being boring, angry, and close minded, yet admit that you wouldn't be doing any of these things and be at least close minded(can't tell about angry) if not for this game.

Hate to break it to you, you've just experienced a life lesson you'd have at some point regardless of the game....another part of growing up. Game is a catalyst, you decide on your own behavior, and nothing prevented you from doing all those things before.

Funny thing though, much of what you said about connecting people, is the same thing that people said about the internet and social media back in the day....not the walking part....that's new. Look where we are now. Bunch of boring, angry, close minded people at every turn.:)

Have fun.

@Magic

Dunno about that. I lived in Holland for 6 months, and after work every night I'd take the train to Amsterdam, and just walk around for hours before heading back. Walked everywhere really, or took a bus if it was really far. Met plenty of people, had fun, experienced new things. Lost a lot of weight and got pretty fit. Won't say ripped...that requires muscle workouts, but certainly best I've looked...and felt....in my life.

A game most people don't care for on a platform no one cares for.

gtxgamer23210d ago

They should've made Pokemon snap go

Dan_scruggs3210d ago

It's popular thus people on the internet must hate it.

WellyUK3210d ago (Edited 3210d ago )

It's barely a game. Another case of sheeps playing something utter sh*te.

DeadlyOreo3210d ago

Another case of sheeps hating on something popular in order to look cool.

PizzaSteve3210d ago (Edited 3210d ago )

Going on peoples property, causing car crashes, and getting killed just to hunt down virtual monsters must be cool too right. Who cares how popular it is, it's making people do stupid things.

PygmelionHunter3210d ago (Edited 3210d ago )

Agreed. I don't play it myself, but all of my friends enjoy it plenty. I also hear the game is not too punishing regarding microtransactions which, while not completely eradicating the system, is a step in the right direction for mobile games.

Also, love your avatar and username, buddy.

@PizzaSteve
Never go full retard.

ninsigma3210d ago

@pizza
So peoples stupidity is the fault of the game?? Something tells me, if someone crashed their car playing temple run, people wouldn't be as quick to blame that game as they are pokemon.

PlatinumGX3210d ago

@PizzaSteve

I don't like Pokemon GO one bit but it's not the game's fault that some people are complete idiots.

Let me guess, you also think violent games make people violent, right?

Stereotypical_gamer3210d ago

The sheep are the people playing this game, if msnbc are doing stories on this game then you are being treated to a large dose of 'shut the fuck up and stare at your phone'. Pretty obvious considering American politics have gone off the rails.

I like the game (for what it's worth). My top 5 reasons why it 'sucks," would be:
Servers almost always crashing/laggy
No trainer battles
No friends list
No battling pokemon
I would have preferred a turn-based combat

Deadpooled3210d ago

If there is one thing I hate in the game it's gym battles, they're so glitchy and are always a tap and swipe fest. Also even if your team has total control of the gym, if someone from a different team challenges it and beats only your pokemon but not the other pokemon in the gym, you lose the place in the gym and the defender bonus.

ninsigma3210d ago

Friends list would be great considering its lets us meet new people.
