7 Days to Die has a lot of great ideas that are sadly hamstrung by technical issues and poor implementation. Though a lot of its issues could be mitigated with patching (it’s somewhat telling that the game is still in early access on PC), in it’s current state 7 Days to Die feels like an unfinished mess that, simply, doesn’t live up to any of the promise or potential.
Future updates for 7 Days to Die should consider stepping up to the challenge of giving the game’s most underutilized biome a proper makeover.
7 Days to Die should consider adding one or two new traders that could fill in for the services that the current traders in the game don’t provide.
Base-building, zombies, survival/crafting, we've got it all!
For anyone just starting out with this game: I would recommend what I call sprinting through an enemy. What you can do is, with your melee weapon of choice equipped, run straight at(and past) the zombie, timing a swing as you pass it. It'll keep the zombie from being able to hit you, and if you have a partner, will make quick work of a zombie. Also if you hit a zombie in the leg with your bow or crossbow(some take more than one shot) it'll fall down to it's knees and eventually stop moving. So you can hip-fire in the leg, while it is getting into the aforementioned position be switching to your melee weapon, and you have plenty of time to smash their head. I'm sure there are many other ways to work the systems in the game that I haven't discovered. Have fun!
It feels unfinished because it is.
I love this game despite it's rough state, but they asked for bad reviews by releasing it as a full game. There should be very clear warnings in the online store and on the retail packaging : *** This is a playable alpha ***
I knew what I was getting and I can't stop playing, but people who bought it expecting Dying Light with survival elements will no doubt have question marks and exclamation points floating above their heads, with smoke pouring from their ears and nostrils while their face turns red. Or maybe I've seen too many cartoons.
It will sound weird for those who hate this game, but it's the closest thing I've ever played to the zombie game I designed in my head while at work. For me this "unfinished mess" is easily the greatest zombie game I've ever played.
