Two More GPUs? Nvidia has GTX 1060 3GB & GTX 1050 / Ti on their lists

It hasn’t been long since the showcase of Nvidia’s GTX 1060 just this week. As we all know, the GTX 1060 is the card that will compete against AMD’s recently released RX 480. However, more rumors are starting to speculate about the RX 470 competitor, the GTX 1050 or GTX 1050Ti to be exact. Some more rumors include Nvidia's release of the GTX 1060 3GB VRAM Variant

Too many f'n cards. Low, Mid, Hi. This is all you need IMHO. Of course, I'm not the leader of a multi-million $ corporation and I'm not gonna pretend that I know it all, but it just seems like overkill sometimes.

1080, great. 1070, good. 1060, ok. Find ways to differentiate the performance and get the prices where they need to be. I understand about chip yields and such and can see why many, many, many different cards are made. It's just sometimes it seems like trolling, lol.

When I built my Intel core i7 Skylake desktop I actually used the HDMI graphics port on my M170 motherboard. So far I see no need to add an additional graphics card although it does help that I am not into AAA gaming on my desktop. In fact, I don't even run a Microsoft operating system although I do have a locked down Windows 10 in a virtual machine and even then it really does like to phone home so it gets rarely used.

If I get a more powerful graphics card I will get a 4K monitor that is at the very least 27", until then I am quite happy with my IPS 24" monitor.

Some information for those people contemplating getting a graphics card and are interested in 4k gaming. You really do need to know if your 4K TV or monitor supports HDR (High Dynamic range) but even then it is not that simple. Currently, there are two competing HDR formats HDR10 (open standard) and Dolby Vision HDR (proprietary) and to get the best use of your 4K TV or monitor and graphics card you need to know what each supports. Oh! I almost forgot you will definitely need an HDMI 2.0 or better cable.

For more info (check the web as well): http://hometheaterreview.co...

This is why I am quite happy to wait.

it makes no sense for someone to get the 1060 3GB unless it's 199 or lower the 1060 6GB is the one people should keep there eyes on well that's if you dont have the money for a 1080. but for me i won't buy a new GPU this year 1080 TI is what i'm looking for got to have the best

Testfire3273d ago

It's supposed to be $149, going head on with the Rx 470.

Dark SNES Games Not Made For Kids

As consoles go, the SNES has quite the family friendly image. But, just like a Pizza Hut when you look at its hygiene rating or taste its pizza or breathe inside a restaurant, it’s not always good for everyone.

The golden age. No ESRB*. No ratings at all. It was glorious.

*I know the ESRB was formed by the industry to prevent others from stepping in and taking control.

Darkegg7h ago

Interesting on ESRB. “ The industry, pressured with potential government oversight of video game ratings from these hearings, established both the IDSA and the ESRB within it to create a voluntary rating system based on the Motion Picture Association film rating system with additional considerations for video game interactivity.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/...

Is that how the industry isn’t required to offer consumers a transferable digital token to sell games they no longer play or maybe don’t like? And then treat us all like pirates? That’s how the government is not involved, they had to placate the situation to avoid oversight.

I appreciate the article but this guy must be living in a delayed universe, The reputation was ruined 10+ years ago and hasn't recovered since. As such people have voted with their wallets and stopped buying Xbox products in large amounts.

YourMommySpoils20h ago

Their reputation was lost way before that. From the moment Microsoft said they entering the console business, we all knew it would be a downgrade.

Bathyj6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

That's not true at all the OG Xbox had drive and they had hunger and they wanted to accomplish something. It was a great console.

they didn't quite reach their goals and they gave up prematurely because they couldn't win. It was halfway through the Xbox 360 when kinect released and that was when they lost their way and we're a rudderless ship ever since

Agent753h ago

In all fairness, Xbox had some great games with online play, Xbox 360 even better. Xbox consoles started to die with the Xbox One. Ditch consoles for the PC and PS.

Rumors of Turn 10 being either shut down or hit with massive lay offs is on the horizon.

The issue is MS will do something right only to do something very, very wrong. And they do this what seems calculative at this point. Doesn't matter what they do the Investors and leadership want more and more money an endless bottomless pit of purr insatiable greed. A company that acts like it's broke or hurting is what really, really infuriates me. They've surpassed apple again well over 3 trillion who acts like they're a million dollar company is fk stupid. Pivots and changes for no reason and can't do things for more than a year with out a pivot or changing their metrics.

Christopher1d ago

That would be really bad since Phil just hyped up next year as a big Forza year at Summer Game Fest.

1Victor23h ago

@christopher: “ That would be really bad since Phil just hyped up next year as a big Forza year at Summer Game Fest”
The key word big can be ether good or bad 🤷🏿only time can tell

DarXyde22h ago

First Forza being generated entirely via AI?

If any company would do it, it'd be them.

Nacho_Z11h ago

Isn't the point that it's irrelevant how profitable MS is, the suits have decided it's time that the Xbox division started making them money. Hence the layoffs, the pivots.

hennessey866h ago

That wouldn't surprise me, as motorsport has been heading down hill since the great number 4. Where as playground have consistently put out better games. I think the two studios will be merged under playground games banner.
