I loved what we played at PAX Prime and already ordered a unit.

darthv723269d ago

Tried it at best buy, it's quite impressive and comfy to wear too.

Kingthrash3603269d ago

Darth...
On a playstation article. ....
Saying GOOD things???????????????
I tip my hat to you sir.....
Lol naw but I haven't tried it yet....when I do I'll make a decision to buy or not. Did you use move controller's ?

darthv723269d ago

@thrash, I aint as one sided as people want to perceive. I play the middle and having a sense of platform agnostic feels good even if people don't always agree.

Festano3270d ago

Not surprised. HTC and Oculus rushed in like noobs, Sony will crush them in the VR market

Garethvk3269d ago

I used the Oculus again a couple of times at E3 and it was not as comfy and still disoriented you if you made fast or sudden moves. I have had no issues with PSVR so far.

Salooh3269d ago (Edited 3269d ago )

Many factors effect the experience. Some issues are with the headset or just adjustment, some with software like the concept of the game or with the engine or with developers effort or with the limitation of the hardware.

It is very early to judge VR. It have a huge potential and hopefully it grow. I really wish that most issues are because of the tools they use. Really hope that's the case because that means we don't need to upgrade the headset very fast and that games will evolve really fast by providing extra or upgraded tools/engines.

So far, most are paid demos, which is fine for me because i bought it knowing that. PS VR currently is more appealing when it comes to full games or better experiences so far because sony announced many great games compared to other platforms but we need to keep in mind that pc have much more potential but we shouldn't brag about it unless we see the effect meaning greater experiences actually becomes reality not just potential lol..

Even if we start witnissing the advantage of the pc in VR , ps vr will still produce great experiences. It's not all about hardware, skill of developers what makes the hardware shine not the specs of it ( which is a tool but need to be used right or else it's pointless)

hirobrotagonist3269d ago (Edited 3265d ago )

Not sure why you got so many upvotes. Psvr lookgs good, but hardware wise it can't compare. I'm running a 1080 gtx and and HTC vive and I'm not seeing how psvr will compete on that level. Still looking forward to it, but probably don't have room in my life for more than one VR headset.

Have you tried the vive, goldby? Psvr will not be more immersive than the vive due to the move controllers, weaker hardware and smaller FOV. Not really debatable

Goldby3265d ago

VR isnt about the graphic resolution.

VR is about immersion, makign you feel like you are inside the game you are playing. you don't need high end stuff to do that, look at Rez Infinite as a prime example. yes graphics may help some people, but if you ahve a VR game with no immersion and the bestest graphics out there, wont work for shit.

also it is a very different mindset HTC or Oculus took over PS.

HTC and Oculus made a VR headset that everyone needs to upgrade their pcs to use, furthermore with Scorpio havign to be upgraded to run VR, while Playstation decided that hey, we already have 40Million + gamers with the PS4, lets work our headset to run off of that, but also benefit from future consoles.

Goldby3265d ago

while i'll admit i have not tried the vive, i ahve tried the PSVR and the weaker hardware on the psvr doesnt take away from the immersion at all, at least for me. and the move controllers worked wonders for me during london heist.

I never said that Playstation VR would be more immersive than Vive or Rift, just that graphics dont matter as much as immersion inside the game, the feelign of presence. thats what will define VR games for the future.

KaiPow3269d ago

Good. Have a strong launch lineup.

MoveTheGlow3269d ago (Edited 3269d ago )

Considering what we've seen with other VR sets, this is refreshing to know. It's going to be hard to keep me away from one of these given they're launching with Rez Infinite. Rez is up there in my GOAT list.

Alexious3269d ago

RIGS will be really good, I think.

ritchi453269d ago

It does look good. It looks like it could possibly become the VR equivalent of Rocket League.

rainslacker3269d ago

I'm personally interested in EVE:Valkyrie. Been a while since a space flight sim came out on consoles, and I love those kinds of games. Being in VR is even sweeter.

beyond that, I will probably get GT:Sport since that would be the biggest reason I'd want a VR helmet to begin with.:)

_LarZen_3269d ago

I'm glad! Because tho I love my HTC Vive there is way to few games. Most of it are tech demos and frankly allot of bad games.

Clover9043269d ago

The tech in the three major VR headsets are impressive, especially with Rift and Vive, but Sony knows how to make great games. I'm there day one for VR Worlds and Rigs, and can't wait to see more of Farpoint.

Yoshida claims PS believes Xbox is their only competitor, truth is they don’t have one any more

Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida claims PlayStation still believes Xbox is their only true competitor, not Nintendo.

True, they have pretty different audiences..and some People just have both at home or a PS and a PC that emulates more or less everything from Nintendo.

Knightofelemia2d ago

Xbox hasn't been a competitor since the XB360. Last generation and this generation Sony has been running circles around Xbox. As for Sony vs Nintendo Sony runs circles yes but I don't really see Nintendo as competition. Nintendo does their own thing and it works.

Details are important. Console sales yes. Overall games Xbox seems to be doing fairly well in that department.

LoveSpuds1d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

MS were doing so well that they had to start selling their games on their main competitors system which in turn results in around 30% of each sale going to Sony as the platform holder.

I do think tjat MS' fortunes will improve now that they are actually selling games rather than giving them away for pennies on the dollar.

Something that occurs to me is that the more success MS published games have elsewhere, the more stark it will become that selling games is much more profitable than renting them. If that becomes highly noticable, I wonder what the shareholders (who ultimately run the show) will make of a service which has stagnated for years?

crazyCoconuts1d 5h ago

PlayStation doesn't compete with third party games, they compete on consoles. They profit from third party games. If you're not comparing consoles there's no point in comparing.

drivxr2d ago

Console wars are over.

Eventually, everyone else will catch up to this fact.

attilayavuzer1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

I think it's all PS fans have left at this point. Console wars were always a competition for fourth place behind Nintendo, PC and mobile. If Xbox evaporates into a hybrid virtual platform, then PS will be perennially left in last place.

Christopher1d 22h ago

Strange, I recall all those FCC documents and witness testimonies saying the exact opposite... Guess Microsoft doesn't know what it's talking about?

PanicMechanic1d 11h ago (Edited 1d 11h ago )

Great analysis. Just joking.

Pretending like companies give a f about where they “rank” against each other is just super retarded. This isn’t the World Cup.

Tell me, how does “PC” compete against a brand like PlayStation? It just doesn’t make sense at all. What you just said, is complete and utter nonsense

BlaqMagiq11d 3h ago

I don't think PS cares about being in this so-called "last place" you came up with when they're making profits hand over fist.

microsoft wanted to crush sony into dust and they had the money to do it, but with such weak leadership it was always going to fail

Reaper22_1d 23h ago

Had the money? They still have the money but the industry has changed since xbox 360. Microsoft is the number one publisher in gaming. I'd hardly call that failing.

IRetrouk1d 22h ago (Edited 1d 22h ago )

The industry hasn't changed though, just ms, Microsoft was the no1 publisher for a month in december 2024, the actual no1 for fy2024 was tencent if game sales are all that's being counted.

Profchaos1d 22h ago

Money doesn't mean you'll be successful large corporations have entered and failed before like Nec
