Umbrella Corps is a fast, ferocious multiplayer shooter – albeit rough and lacking in polish.
This is something I wanted to be great, but I guess it's just not something western fans enjoy
You think we would have learner from Operation Raccoon City that playing as Umbrella Corp games aren't that fun.
"rough and lacking in polish" That's funny, didn't Capcom's CEO in their last earnings statement talk about how they will only release games when they are ready even if that means them taking longer with development? Didn't take them long to go back on that statement did it? Capcom defined three generations of gaming for me, from watching my older cousins play Turbo on the snes to experiencing Resident Evil for the first time at a friend's house on the ps1 to being blown away by the DMC demo that came bundled with Code Veronica.. how on Earth have they sunk so low?
"didn't Capcom's CEO in their last earnings statement talk about how they will only release games when they are ready even if that means them taking longer with development?" I mean...I don't know how long this game was in development to actually say they are in the wrong. Longer may not make the game better, merely means longer. "experiencing Resident Evil for the first time at a friend's house on the ps1 to being blown away by the DMC demo that came bundled with Code Veronica.. how on Earth have they sunk so low?" DMC only averaged low millions like 2 or so, DMC4 being the height of the series at 3 million. Even a game like Resident Evil Code Veronica only sold like a little over 2 million (mind you that is combining DC and PS2 numbers) They have sunk low based on titles like RE4, RE5 and RE6. Not bad games, but not RE titles by what fans understand the concept to be. They lost likely lots of conusmers doing such a style, yet earned the AAA hardcore crowd, yet what happened with 6? It cost a BUNCH of money and that AAA hardcore crowd has moved on ,resulting in them over spending on something that wasn't wanted by the majority, ie they spent Assassins Creed money ,yet didn't get Assassin's Creed sales. A shame too as I feel Capcom could still have a profitable business model if they just scale back, focus on core IPs and core concepts and seek respectable returns, not HUGE AAA ACTION BLOCKBUSTER risk. How far did RE6 really get them? It damn near almost cost them the company. Capcom needs to focus on getting back to humble development as they can't get loans for EA type development, yet not move EA type units. EA, Ubisoft, Activision can do those type of moves, Capcom can't and seriously needs to stop trying to compete at such a unrealistic level. I LOVED the RE titles back in the day ie RE-Code Veronica, Zero, 2002 remake etc, I stop buying RE games after 4. Love 4 as an action game, but they lost me as a long term consumer of their titles. YOLO AAA crowd only cares about fads, they could care less about long term support, Capcom had to learn that the hard way. I think they need to be more conservative like SEGA with their spending as it sounds like that is what they are currently trying to do with REVII.
6, that sounds generous.
I wouldn't base everything on this one review. I have watched a couple of youtube reviews that were much more positive, and if you enjoy online PVP it seems to be lots of fun and brings some fresh ideas too.
I've read a couple already and its worse than Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. It actually might be the worst game in the RE series. People who enjoyed RE:ORC didn't even like this game.
Ok, that doesn't sound good. :) But RE 6 also got awful reviews but I've found it to be surprisingly fun when playing it co-op with a friend. Mind you, I bought it for cheap on a PSN sale so wasn't expecting much.
Really. Damn because i was thinking of maybe getting this because of how much i loved Operation Raccoon City. The multiplayer seems similar in that its 4v4 with zombies roaming around. Operation is a classic in my book.
You know what we really need in gaming? More FPS.
Played this at PSX last year. Super generic. Guns have no recoil and your character feels like they are sliding, not running. It really does nothing to add anything interesting.
Maps are super small, too
It's a pretty decent game 7/10 the max
