E3 2016: Saints Row Developer Announces Agents of Mayhem – IGN First

I know lots of people Loved Saints Row and the wacky direction it went. But I enjoy more serious tone. I like the idea of this but if its Wacky at all I'm out. I really liked SSOD and Ratchet as the gameplay was perfect but am ready for something more serious in a hurry.

The wacky stuff gets old fast I agree. Glad they're at least branching off the Saints Row Ip and not sequelize it. Though I wouldn't mind a full blown Saints Row with a serious tone and online gang wars where you make your own gang would be refreshing imo. A spin off is whats needed for the generally tired franchise, new characters, setting, story, gameplay elements, tone, graphics.

I'm not super excited but I'm curious and hopeful.

I'm the opposite. I always liked Saints Row way better than GTA for that very reason.

I'd rather play a game that makes me laugh than one that makes me depressed. :)

I thought Seinfeld was the least funny comedy show in TV history and I think Big Bang Theory is terrible.

But those are obviously funny to other people.

Voices are terrible but lets see what they can bring to the table. Im confused even after reading the article, is it a 3v1 multiplayer game or an actual single player campaign?

Yeah, imagine that Saints Row 2 vibe.. They were making the gang wars something GTA abandoned since San Andreas. The gangster tone of the franchise was incredible, but I don't know if they can bring the series back after saints row 4 that they've gone all in futuristic/tech stuff.

Kind of hoping you get to create your own character instead of having to play as one of the three they showed, but I'm not completely turned off by this. I'd like some more info on what the hell the game actually is and some gameplay footage though.

If they went through the effort of displaying each characters name and profile then it's likely you won't get character creation. Early guess.

Volition are one of my favorite devs, never made a bad game and they know that fun comes before anything else unlike these serious narrative focused unreplayable garabage that get a lot of praise. I'm interested to see how their narrative skills have developed with this one. a single player hero game is what people would eat up now that MOBAs or hero shooters have become popular.

I don't mind the MOBA Hero shooter games these days considering we just came out of the Renaissance of COD's Halo and similar shooters flooding the market, force feeding us with staleness for years and years losing hope in innovation, freshness and inventiveness in the genre. 2010 Bethesda tried to reinvent the wheel with Brink unfortunately the game was a flop but they had something going, forward thinking at the time.

Now we got MOBA Hero shooter blends to freshin things up and open up innovation. Doing things we would never expect in shooters that we never thought was possible 5, 6 years ago. Combing two different genre's RPG/shooter online worlds. Shooter genre always had rules, a status Quo of realism, such as groundedness in movements within said environment in games (MW games). It would be deemed "sillly" "difficult" and most of all "unrealistic"

The shooter genre is not my go to genre it never was for me but they're changing it up and making it fun again.

Nice! They are keeping the super powers and cheesy humor. It makes more sense in a crackdown style comic book story than it does saints row anyway.

Edit: trailer looked sick! Love the art style. Hopefully you get to create your own agent still.

It actually IS Saint's Row. Except its no longer an urban street gang. Seems to be a high tech, private military organization now.

It's apparently a spin-off. I'm imagining something like Persona is to Shin Megami Tensei - originally born from it, but is its own thing (they don't even use the SMT supertitle anymore since P4G.

Yea I know. But at the end of the trailer there's a slightly modified Saint's Row emblem which I'm guessing symbolizes their transition into war or more lucrative business.

I don't understand why people care so much about the dialogue in games. Is the game good? That's my only question. If the game is good, most other things can be excused.

Nice, looks like a cross between overwatch and Crackdown, keeping my eyes on this one for sure.
