Yes, there are shaders with normal maps that make the textures look better in light.

I agree, while I also agree it doesn't look like a massive improvement the fact that this comparison looks very clear and smooth compared to the original is great. Hopefully they make much needed improvements to the battle system. It will be nice to have a high fantasy FF game again. Hopefully FF16 will be one as well, 15 looks great but it's been far too long since we've gotten a medieval setting.

Even when it was released, you could hear the PS2 working hard to render everything on screen - square enix was pushing it to the limit, so it comes as no surprise Final Fantasy 12 has aged very well. And with updated visuals, it's gonna look pretty awesome on PS4

Hyped can't wait for this, as FFX was fun, but favorite game in the series other than 8 was 12. I hoped the Steam version was there on day one, but I guess ill have to re-buy it at a later time. I will def pick this up, and hope they make another one its these world and theme.

Higher resolution and a better polished image, the basic for a remastered game.
I'm hoping to it not be the only changes that they make, Square-Enix can bring more content to the game like a new mission or perhaps new powers or characters.

Have you ever played the international zodiac job system version? It was released only in Japan before but it featured major changes to the game. SOME changes are: Character have permanent jobs(you will choose from a variety of jobs) now so everyone will now have their own roles in battle unlike before where everyone can be anyone. There are new commands for gambits, revised magicks and technicks, you can now control and level up guest characters and summons, new rewards for quests, new items, a turbo mode wherein you can speed up time, a 100 level trial mode where you will battle the strongest bosses in the game including ALL the judges, and more. This remaster is that version and not the original one.

@kowan, Oh really it`s very good news then. Thank you for clarifying this to me man!
I was not aware of that Zodiac version due it being only released in Japan. But with all this changes it will be a complete diferent experience with the game.

Finally! One of my favourite FF games. So what do we get from squareenix: first FF15. second FF 7 remake (Chapter 1) and after that FF 12 remaster. Nice times for FF fans. Right!

Given that this is still a year away, further improvements should be expected. They did so with FFX/X-2 remaster, showing changes after it's teaser trailer.

Hell yeah. It's funny cuz these remasters are the way I remember how the games look like, but in reality, there is an improvement over the original as comparisons show.
