So updated lighting and shaders. Textures haven't improved much, but they already looked really good for their time.

Yes, there are shaders with normal maps that make the textures look better in light.

I agree, while I also agree it doesn't look like a massive improvement the fact that this comparison looks very clear and smooth compared to the original is great. Hopefully they make much needed improvements to the battle system. It will be nice to have a high fantasy FF game again. Hopefully FF16 will be one as well, 15 looks great but it's been far too long since we've gotten a medieval setting.

Even when it was released, you could hear the PS2 working hard to render everything on screen - square enix was pushing it to the limit, so it comes as no surprise Final Fantasy 12 has aged very well. And with updated visuals, it's gonna look pretty awesome on PS4

Hyped can't wait for this, as FFX was fun, but favorite game in the series other than 8 was 12. I hoped the Steam version was there on day one, but I guess ill have to re-buy it at a later time. I will def pick this up, and hope they make another one its these world and theme.
