Destiny's 'Rise Of Iron' Expansion Reveal Set For June 9th

Bungie has announced they are revealing the next big expansion for Destiny on June 9th.

who cares, it won't release for another 3-4 months and the game has already been run to the ground for the last 8 months...and when this finally does release they'll go 12 months of adding nothing before Destiny 2 comes out just to repeat the same grind. Also they have to nerf a bunch of weapons after the first few months of Destiny 2 and make them irrelevant for the next 24 months before the next release.

Granted the game ran a much lengthier course than I expected but I strongly doubt the game has anywhere near that number of unique people playing daily now.. heck even the most hardcore destiny fans on my friends list have moved on,.

Maybe I am the minority, but I want a good campaign or story to go by my games. These MMO shooters are very very slim in that area. Destiny lore could have been something great - but Bungie don't even have time to explain why they don't have time to explain.

I'm usually no critic when it comes to dialogue in a game because I feel it gets overblown, like who cares, but when that line was said in Destiny all I said to myself was, "really, you just wasted your time saying that instead of explaining?"

I found that line hilariously terrible, but I loved that they have a sense of humor about it and later added the exotic version of her gun and named it "No time to explain".

Yeah, the DLC should come out next month. This game need more content straight away and not in october or november. Bungie lost their path with this game.

I can't wait for all the recycled content from a previous expansion they didn't use to be wrapped up in an incoherent story written by a 1st grade elementary class. The excitement level is off the charts!

Hopefully it'll be similar in quality to TTK with a slightly better currency conversion for the price tag. Would be good to be able to be able to get back into Destiny again with my friends but they'll have to do a better job than just recycle existing enemies and throw in a few new exotics if they want me to return this time around, this year has just too many great FPS games coming out.

I got back in to Destiny briefly after the last update having not played since Nov2015. Skipped the valentines update because, well, f*ck that. Blasted through Iron Banner and ended up with x3 characters all at near top light level with no effort really. Refuse to grind the same PvP stuff to reach a level and certainly don't care about reaching the top light level when you'll hit that in a few hours of the next update being launched.

Thing is, I really enjoyed catching up with some old raid buddies. I spent so much time on this game and that first raid was just amazing. Nailing that with a group of buddies was an awesome experience. For me, this game ended up being more about the people I played with rather than the game itself.

I really want Bungie to nail it with their next steps but I've not got high hopes...

I honestly think that's why people played Destiny for so long, at least it's why I did. I had a hell of a time f'king around with online friends on Destiny, met some really cool PSN friends. Had it not been for them, I would have undoubtedly quit Destiny within a few weeks, rather than playing it heavily for an entire year. Destiny is good at bringing people together, even if it is through scummy means like no matchmaking for the most important activities (if you have to search out someone rather than have a randomly generated stranger, you tend to want to stick with that person you put effort into finding).

Whether I get Rise of Iron depends entirely on my how many of my friends get it.

Yeah. I want it to be good so my mates will buy it. Had some incredible moments in that game. From sheer frustration to outright elation and so many laughs. Literally in pieces with some of the goings on some nights.
And getting those drops you wanted at last!? One of us never getting the Gjallerlarlerlalaboner and another sending him a video of him dismantling a fourth he had drop. Priceless

Oh I know man. This game creates sooo many inside jokes that just get people in my group cracking up. One of my friends always wanted a gjallahorn, he played it for SOOOO long, was the most generous player ever and helped people out with stuff he already did 100 times before and would get nothing out of it. It was a running joke at that point that he would never get gjallahorn, hell, even when we as a group beat something really hard, we'd wish he got his gjallahorn rather than wish for our own cool weapons, because it was sad at that point, everyone had 4 or 5 of them, while he couldn't even get one.

Well, he FINALLY got one... RIGHT AFTER they nerfed it, and like a week or two before it became useless due to taken king coming out. Similar things happened with me getting 4 vex mythoclasts while one of my team mates went without a single one, while I went without monte carlo and the 4th horsemen (I finally got both in the taken king).

Those are just loot stories too. There's tons of awesome moments where we lightheartedly give each other shit about a variety of topics. I've never laughed so frequently and consecutively in my life to be honest. As much disrespect I have for Destiny as a game and Bungie as a developer, they were really good at bringing others together for a blast of a time.

Good, looking forward to it! Just got back into it now that school ended and the April update launched and I totally like how they yet again stream lined things. :) Honestly it is my favorite New IP of this generation!

And oh look it didn't take long to see those usual naysayers to ask there nearly 2 year old question"people still play this game?"

Yeah, they do, a large percentage of PS and XB owners still do because it's really a solid shooter, it has flaws but it's still a very satisfying game and it's because of how rewarding it is that's why people still play it and wait for new expansions to release! :)

you want rewarding, look to games like Diablo. they do the RNGesus properly.

Destiny get's you hooked on the idea of getting these unique guns, and unless you are playing every single second of the day, those guns you really want with either be whats constantly killing you, or just over the horizon.

That need to get that next good gun is what keeps people goign back for more.

Its a goof game yes, but far from satisfying. there are the moments of aww when you get your gun or armor u want, but most cases its f*ck this or f*ck that when someone else gets the gun for a 4th times that you've been trying to get once

If the expansion is of the same quality as taken king, then count me in for sure. Only downside to TKK was the content drought in the 2nd half of its life span.

It would be STUPID for them to make this premium DLC, for one the game's on its last legs and I sincerely doubt the vast majority of gamers are willing to pitch in another $40 to finally "complete" this game. That would mean you've spent $175 on a game whose original 3 pieces of DLC should've been on disk. If it's free and massive Destiny will have earned back its fanbase instantly

Lol, it's survived for nearly 2 years, content droughts and all its it's gamer base has grown... say what you will but Destiny isn't going anywhere, and it's Hugely success and will only improve going forward.

I'm been retired from destiny after 1yr + in. And that was at first launch. I'm sure for every player that retires, there is one that picks up the game as it is now and goes "HOLY SHIT! LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF!" And then later "HAHA! yeah right! Your trying to tell me that the gjallarhorn was the best weapon in the game?! Who you trying to fool dweeb?!"

I think they've done a few things wrong by core design and participation.
Make raids to have an optional matchmaking system,i can't believe they left that out.

Also having to wait this long on expansions is not really helping to keep a community together.
This game could be so much more than it is now.
