5 Reasons Overwatch Is Basically Just Team Fortress 3

Ed from Twinfinite writes: "Overwatch is basically Team Fortress 3, and I mean that in the most respectful and complimenting way possible towards both games. Team Fortress 2 should be recognized as one of the greatest games of the last generation. It has been supported for nearly 10 years, and still continues to captivate a stable audience with its timeless visuals, easy to pick up and play gameplay, and of course, hats. TF2 players love their hats.

Blizzard’s latest hit, Overwatch, seems poised to be this generation’s crazy fun and batsh!t silly shooter. And, given Blizzard’s track record of supporting their franchises, could also capture that same longevity as well. "

Fun as hell, but they need to nerf that GD Reaper !

Ricegum3271d ago

Yeah, i agree. I also feel like you shouldnt be able to pick 3+ of the same character lol. So many times ive been with a team and pretty much lost before the game has started due to poor character choices. Some people dont understand the teamwork element.

Also, they should refine the "play of the game" system so it's not always Bastion winning it with his turret, or Hanzo with his special. Maybe show some support players gameplay to encourage more people to use them.

That won't matter once competitive season has started

I can see Overwatch having a long lifespan similar to Team Fortress 2 as well. Blizzard does a superb job of supporting their games and although the console versions of Overwatch may eventually see the playerbases dry up after a few years as players move on to newer things, I can see the PC community living a very long life, much like every other Blizzard title.

Well there are too many games for consoles, we don't have time to play one game several years. Actually I think about getting Overwatch is the game any good?

NegativeCreepWA3271d ago

You're joking right? PC has far more games than any console.

See...Blizzard did this to get back at Valve for Dota 2, even though it was Blizzards fault they didn't realize what they had in their own mod community.

Seems dumb, multiplayer fast paced VR... Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Source 2 versions of the games they had, remakes or sequels to their games should've come out like a decade ago, now they'd need a heavily upgraded Source 2 or just Source 3 to be up to par with current engines tbh..

The TF2 SDK has arrived

Valve: "Mod makers, rejoice! We've just released a massive update to the Source SDK, adding all the Team Fortress 2 client and server game code. This update will allow content creators to build completely new games based on TF2. We're also doing a big update to all our multiplayer back-catalogue Source engine titles (TF2, DoD:S, HL2:DM, CS:S, and HLDM:S), adding 64-bit binary support, a scalable HUD/UI, prediction fixes, and a lot of other improvements!"
