ThisGenGaming says "The launch for Overwatch has had many fans excited until the servers had so much traffic they went down almost straight away. Here's some fan reactions to the server issues."
But still makes you wonder why it happens particularly in this case when they just recently announced several millions of players participated in the beta. Those beta servers just suddenly turned into potatoes at launched?
Nah not at all. The sheer amount of variables involved is staggering. I worked at a networking place and one of the veterans there talked me ears off about the pains of mass global launches. I was bored poopless, but i developed somewhat of a sympathetic outlook towards anyone working on big projects with networking
Still though...Blizzard shouldn't be compared to amatures in this regard. They make games that are online focus but every single one of them launched with online issues. SC2 was also having launch issues.
And to think that they have learnt after that and right after a massive beta for a highly anticipated online only game! Pfft...I guess they didn't!
Is it? It seems that everyone on here loves going after every single game when it launches suddenly this is normal now lol
Blizzard has a notorious history of releasing games with server issues at launch I'm not really shocked at this considering how Diablo 3 launched and how Starcraft 2 launched.
Considering what site this article is from, I am surprised that the title didn't say "Overwatch Launch Didn't Go As Planned, Servers Went Down Almost Straight Away on the PS4", like they have done in the past.
Idk When I started playing 9pm EST it was fine. I played until 12am EST and everthing seemed to work perfectly.
Although I did notice that some games the people were getting filled very slowly? compare to open beta atleast. Or maybe not as many people are playing the game as open beta not sure tbh
Tried logging in yesterday at 4pm as servers were told to be up, they were not. After about 10 - 15 mins later they were. Both me and my wife logged on and off through out the night with zero problems.
pretty much expected, it's very hard to launch a online game with no issues
Lol the article below this said the "servers are are now live"!
It took me 30 minutes to connect but once I did it's been game after game with no lag. Brewing a pot of coffee for an overwatchathon now.
Really? At 7:10 est the servers were working just fine. 10 minutes, hardly newsworthy
Finding matches seems to be working alright, but partying up with friends doesn't work at all, at least here on Xbox One. Don't know about PS4 and PC.
