but it's not up to Square-Enix... Utada herself doesn't like to have her music on Digital platforms if it's her choice. Square Enix would have to go through her label and in that case we wouldn't get a new song... we'd only get Simple and Clean or Passion / Sanctuary again...

If Utada doesn't agree to the terms to have her music on Digital platforms then they would have to find someone else. I don't agree with Skrillix... I want another Japanese Artist if possible but I'll always prefer Utada if possible.

@rdgneoz3 I agree but they would still have to go through a label to claim rights to this. Either way Utada or the label (Label will most likely be harder since it may be in the contract as well) before we can see these songs on any digital gaming platforms. If they wanted to continue having Utada in this game they would have to make a Physical only version of the game and Sony already told all developers that a digital version for every PS4 game must exist. I don't know about Xbox but it could be the same.

Whattttttttt??? I am so hyped for skrillex to be in kingdom Hearts, I've always wanted this bro! When the beat drops when your taking out bad guys, will be the best moment in kingdom Heart history.

Plus he has a track record of doing this to other franchise and making fans happy....for example...Transformers was a great franchise and he worked on the sound effects and those movies HAPPEND to be the best movies....ever....so just imagine your good old kingdom Hearts plus the quality of transformers.....yea that's a dope video game.

They used a different Utada Hikaru song for each of the two numbered games, so I was kind of hoping, but not really expecting, that they'd do the same for III. However, I'd choose one of the songs they've already used over this every time.

If you really have to appeal to the West SE, first make sure they like what you're trying to appeal to them with.

It's not Square Enix this time... Utada does not want her music on Digital Platforms without her consent which is why we don't have a Digital version of KH 1 or 2 on PS3 or PS4. Every digital version of KH has the song without her vocals. She has to agree to creating a new theme and allow the old themes to be on digital platforms before this will change and before she can be the producer and performer for the KH3 theme song.

While I'd normally say "I'm with you on this"... I'm not because I want to know how the story ends. Utada is in my opinion the only person perfect for the theme song but this video somewhat confirms something I've known about her music and that's the fact that all of her music must be on a physical platform of some kind and anything other than that must be agreed on by her personally... She does NOT want her songs on digital platforms for some reason which is why YouTube is starting to crack down on her music being uploaded. I'm not going to boycott the game because I want to finish the series but this is disappointing.

Well as much as I was dying for a new Utada song, I'd get over it as long whoever else comes in does a good job, however, Skrillex doesn't necessarily have to do the main theme to be involved. If anyone watched it,Skrillex did music for Wreck it Ralph, the song Bug Hunt, and could simply come in to record for that world.

No please no. That other FF 15 theme song was a fail too as far as choice goes, Square Enix stop using pop artists for your music, doesnt suite your fantasy settings, just carry on with your traditional orchestral music which is one of the reasons I like your games

It's not up to Square-Enix... Utada herself doesn't want her music on digital platforms without her consent which explains why it's taking so long for the games to be re-released as well as the digital versions of the game not containing the Utada version of the KH theme song. If you haven't noticed... KH 1 & 2 do not have official digital versions. Utada has to make the choice to allow her music on digital platforms which she's really against last time I checked.

I say... If not Utada... go with another Japanese artist instead of pointing to the US for the theme.

It's very complicated. Her contract limits Square in distributing the game digitally so they'll need a replacement or reach an agreement (which I doubt will happen).

If it's in her contract then it was something she had added to "protect" her content and keep people from putting it on video and such without her consent. It sucks but it's smart... it forces people to still buy CDs.

I think Skrillex could actually produce a beautiful sounding song for KH3.
Skrillex has put out some very good music, even so with female vocals. There's nothing that is particularly "western" about his music.
