The next Fallout needs to have a seasonal system....I know there's a mod already, so there really is no excuse since there are actually calendar days, 24/7, 365 in that game.

_-EDMIX-_3310d ago

I hate when people say there's "no excuse" have you not factored that many different gameplay elements now have to be changed due to weather? Meaning creatures that may not appear, how NPC react to the cold , even having the temperature affect stats or even missions that recognize certain things happening during the time period. it's not as simple as flipping a switch as I'm pretty positive that mod does not account for many many things.

It's very easy when you add that mod to excuse the things it does not do to the game...

It's not so simple when you're the actual developer.

So I think it would be amazing that if the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout had a weather system but I'm also not going to talk down to the developer as if it's flipping a damn switch.

MasterD9193309d ago

Modders already did it and it's not about what it accounts for, it's about what it simply does--- which is alter the weather patterns. They already have thunderstorms in the game. You're going to sit there and tell me that it can't be done by a studio as big as Bethesda? What game have you seen where NPC's react to the cold or it has any effect on stats? You're dreaming if you think those are the main reasons why this wasn't inputted in the game.

They have plenty of staff to make sure everything is working flawlessly. Plus, they adhere to their own release dates, so again, there is no excuse. I don't agree even the slightest bit with what you're saying.

_-EDMIX-_3309d ago

"You're going to sit there and tell me that it can't be done by a studio as big as Bethesda?" not saying it can't, merely saying when does such a concept end?

Ok add weather with seasons, ie snow, summer etc. Have a heat meter and cold meter. Store food, have it expire during days of seasons, have clothes meters of heat and cold in terms of coverage, have buildings now effect with seasons etc.

Soooo where does that thinking actually end? Oh lets add more kids to the game. Oh lets add families to the game, Oh lets add generations of families to the game now that we have seasons, OH lets add going to different countries in the game etc.

Do you at least see were I'm getting at? Anyone can add concepts onto something once its done, it doesn't mean the team did anything wrong, it merely means someone is adding something ONTO. They still needed a release date, they don't work for free. They need to have realistic structure of what they can afford to do. We can go on and on and on and for a long time adding our own made up features, I know.....my friends and I jokingly doing it ALL THE TIME.

But that joking also lends to us understanding that you can literally add an infinite amount of options to a game and technically have it never release.

Software is NOT absolute, it is dynamic. Thus, it doesn't really "end" its merely as much as they are wiling to do based on their budget and goals. Can we not just add more features for the next 8 years? I mean...sure, but even then the platforms they are making it for can't even compute some of the features happening as it would be realistically too much for them...thus we would have it ported to PS5 and XTWO.

Oh more features to add now that we have PS5 and XTWO computing? Soooo when does this magically game actually end?

When this 15 year development ends. Pretty sure I'm going to say "WOW someone modded it to allow users to go into SPACE"

"You're going to sit there and tell me that it can't be done by a studio as big as Bethesda?" LOL! I'm joking of course, but I'm also trying to prove a point. They need an end date, they don't have infinite money and the game can be thrown into this infinite limbo of feature adding lol

", there is no excuse" yes there is bud, the time it will take to even make those features like seasons WORK with other features, NPC, AI, Design, clothes, weapons, effects etc. It way, way more of a complex overhaul then you might actually think.

Consider this mod isn't even doing the things I just mentioned. Its once again, easy to excuse a mod for not having those, thus....doesn't that mean the team adding those features won't just have this easy time implementing it?

Erik73573309d ago (Edited 3309d ago )

I actually agree with edmix....if they did add the weather they would probably do it the right way and not some amateurish modder way that you saw MasterD919.

They would have to make it work with every single texture without just putting a cheap white faded look on it, they would also be expected to change NPC's reactions and dialogue. It would be a lot of work my friend but I would be down for that to be in the next fallout for sure! I also want Karma back because it makes being bad way to OP. *See's person that they completed quest for that has no use to them anymore and is in house with valuable goods*....hmmmm well I don't loose anything by shooting that person and stealing everything so why not. I don't know how bethesda didn't see how this was a problem and just letted fallout 4 ship like that. Especially when all the other fallouts by them had it!!

Granted the karma system in fallout didn't really have any serious consequences they could of made this one effect your luck or something more serious to persuade the player not to be bad.

_-EDMIX-_3309d ago

"I would be down for that to be in the next fallout for sure!" agreed. I'm not against the function, merely I'd rather see it put into Fallout or Elder Scrolls from the ground up.

It would really need to be integrated into the game in terms of everything. Its not a simple light switch as many seem to think. When you walk out into the cold and its snowing, its not merely JUST white stuff. You react to it, you feel differently, less people are out, how are creatures reacting to it? NPC dialogue? Clothes? State effects? Does the lakes freeze over? Will weapons work the same during different conditions? What about house building? All those come into play and I'm pretty sure this modder didn't just make that a thing in their mod, thus why ask of MORE of the team based on a modder adding some white snow?

Bethesda likely doesn't want to add something they are not ready to make work with the WHOLE game with all the other features.

I do honestly want the feature sure, but from the ground up and effecting the whole world.

I'm gonna test this out, looks very interesting.

Gaming4Life19813310d ago

I really like this but i already have a great enb mod on and makes everything so much more real and atmospheric it even changes the music. Its called Photorealistic Wasteland fx -Atmosfear Edition if anyone wants to check it out. Even still ill download this one for my 2nd playthrough.

N0TaB0T3310d ago

Bit of a tangent but had the Survival Mode update on consoles made rainy weather... Even more common, so to speak? I can count more days of rain and fog than sunlight after that update rolled out than I can even Radiation Storms.

KingOfArcadia3310d ago

I can see the appeal - it looks really well done - but this one's not for me. My wasteland needs to look like a wasteland, rather than a city slowly being reclaimed by nature.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast62d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos62d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator62d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar164d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast163d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082163d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
