I watched the trailer and the music made me think it would be terrible. Not because I hate Kanye Kardashian, but because a rap song is a poor fit for a movie with a historical setting. It makes me wonder if the director has made a film that cynically tries to appeal to everyone but leaves out e heart of the Assassin's Creed story.

The fan trailer is really good with that AC music which is mysterious and powerful. It makes me want to see the movie - I really hope it's good!

More than likely it was a separate team that cut the trailer. So it would be the fault of whoever is in charge of marketing, not the director. My worry is that some of the higher-ups might be trying to aim the movie towards that audience, and they could have creative control over some things like the script.

Honestly, I haven't liked Kanye much since he left school. (the series of records) Some of that has to do with the new, formulaic sound that is prevalent in today's music. Some has to do with his experimental stuff that just didn't seem to work. But, a LOT of it has to do with what, IMO, seems to be a general lack of care for what he is actually saying anymore. (much like a lot of today's music) He either is far too convoluted in trying to make a point. Or, he simply rambles on and on incessantly without making one. Either way, I'm just not a fan anymore. The fact that he acts like an ass doesn't do him any favors with anybody that might be on the fence.
For this movie, it was just an ill conceived idea to begin with. It just didn't work.

My problem with him is his actual lack of vocal talent. Meaningful words are great and all...although pretty shallow in his work...but if I want that I'll listen to a poet. If I listen to music, I want the music to actually be good, and not some narcissistic raving set to the sound of an over accentuated repetitive beat.

I always find it amusing that fans can make better trailers for things in their spare time than a marketing department filled with lots of people can with the entirety of the source material to work with.

Bad sound editing with a incongruous score, that is worse than what it was. I'd take the bad rap song because i can hear the dialogue in the old trailer.

Why is there a sombre song playing over the action scenes? Why is the dialogue overtaken by the music? Why is the nuanced ambience now loud and distracting, like a headache?

I am not a fan of Kanye at all, but I much prefer the original. I love the soundtrack from AC2, but it just doesn't fit the tone. And while the movie looks great, I am sure they are targeting a much bigger audience than just those who have played the game.
