It overwrites some of the game files. It doesn't add 5gb to the total install size thankfully.

just_looken2909d ago

na it just adds what uncharted 2 has on the disc at launch

Multiplayer support
Singleplayer “Encounter Select” menu
Bonus Feature: Photo Mode
Bonus Feature: Character Model Viewer
Bonus Feature: Render Modes
Bonus Feature: Gameplay Modes
Bonus Feature: Singleplayer Character Skins
Bonus Feature: Weapon Selector
Bonus Feature: Journal Viewer
Bonus Feature: Concept Art Galleries
General fixes and improvements

Whats next a patch thats 20gb in size adds controller support and enables the gpu? LOL

I would rather prefer 5GB compared to the last 17GB patch for The Witcher 3.

Still if you have the media for UC4 you can start playing the game within 5 minutes. Not sure with a digital download, I think (can anyone confirm this?) that you may have to wait for the full or at least a substantial part of the download before you start playing.

You do have to fully wait for the patch to be downloaded and applied before you can play the game with the patches enabled. Still all this can be done while you are still playing the unpatched game.

@just_looken

I'm not trying to defend ND or Sony here because 5GB is quite something. But you comment reeks of hatred towards them both. Were you THIS critical in your comment towards 13GB patch for Dead Rising 3? Or the recent 27GB patch for QB on PC? No matter how you look at it, 5GB is a miniscule figure compared to those and I'm still not defending it, mind you! Day1 patches suck! Buy nowadays, it's already like a normal thing for every single release, might as well quit gaming if you oppose them THAT much.

MagicBeanz2909d ago

I put in a 2TB just after last Christmas, Im good to go!

psman0122909d ago

I'm switching addresses with my ISP (whom I work for as well) but they're taking forever to do the paperwork and get everything moved...I hope I have it set up in time cause I'm dying to play this game D:

rezzah2908d ago

Well then it'd be time to remove older games.

BLAKHOODe2908d ago

I'm really stretching my bandwidth limit with this. It resets on the 18th, so, I might be okay.

hay2908d ago

Not as bad as not having a PS4 at home currently to play this gem.

23 hours and 32 minutes until I get to play.. this countdown timer is killing me.

Yukes2908d ago

Hang in there! Based on your time of posting it must be under 17 hours now? You're nearly there...

fenome2908d ago

9 o'clock tonight, 13 hours and 18 minutes from now. Not that I'm keeping track or anything. Lmao.

It's impossible not to though when I can see it on my PS4 with a little countdown timer right underneath it. Can't wait for it to unlock, I wish I didn't wake up so early on my day off...

ziggurcat2908d ago

I'm in a bit of a dilemma - I've still not finished Dark Souls 3, but I also really want to play this game tonight when it becomes available...

I feel as though I have to get through DS first, though D: (and by that I mean totally get the platinum, which requires almost 3 runs through the game)

fenome2908d ago

That'll take A LOT longer than Uncharted 4 though. I'd play through the campaign on this first and then hop over to DS3.

That's actually what I'm going to do, I took a much needed vacation when Dark Souls 3 came out and had to put off getting it and then I preordered this instead. I'm going to get DS3 as soon as I finish this.

I'm going to have a good Summer between this, Dark Souls and the expansions of Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 releasing soon, not to mention whatever else comes along. Things are starting to pile up. I think Star Ocean drops next month too...ugh..lol

rainslacker2908d ago

I choose to pick up Life is Strange yesterday because I knew I could complete it before tomorrow, freeing me up to play UC4 when I get home without the feeling I'm leaving something unfinished.

On the plus side, I'm actually really enjoying it.

Alright, time to upgrade the PS4 vanilla 500GB HD.

nitus102908d ago

You can actually backup old games including the latest patched ones to a hard disk that you can connect to the USB ports of the PS4 (format with FAT or exFAT). Once you have done this then just delete the games you no longer play. You can recover your old games fairly quickly if there is room on your internal hard disk.

Of course, you can always put a larger disk drive in your PS4 but you should always have a backup disk or disks just in case your hard disk fails.

For those that are thinking of putting in a larger capacity storage device in their PS4 I would recommend a 7200 rpm drive over a 5400 rpm drive since you will get over 20% improvement in loading time and the cost differential is only a few dollars. If you are thinking about an SSD then their loading performance is exceptional (500+MB/s) but the cost is not cheap.

BTW. Even those people who have an XB1 or a PC and especially a PC should backup their files. Hard and Solid State disks even though fairly reliable can and do fail so backups are essential.

@nitus10 Thanks so much for you informative reply. Much appreciated bro!

GMW2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

@nitus10. I didn't know this, thanks! I only thought we could back up the save files only. How do you back up the whole game?

I already upgraded to a 2TB internal drive as I figured out it's easier to have all the games on the PS4 than always switching discs when I'm playing 3 or so at a time. :-))

dantesparda2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

He can also just get a new drive, put new games on it, then whenever he wants to play his old games, he can just put in his old drive back in and play them. Many people dont know this but you can swap drives back and forth on the PS4 so long as its on the same PS4.

Warning though, do not try and put your HDD into a different PS4, as if you do it will force you to format it. Even if you choose no, it will still mess up that drive and make you format it.

Tedakin2909d ago

Seems like every game does in the 2016.

kraenk122908d ago

It's completely natural and calculated in the development process. There is always room for improvement.

The best games of their generation too. Its incredible how great most if not all of playstations games are. Whether you like the stories or not you cant deny the quality of each title.

Hated tlou part 2. But im going to buy it when it is cheap enough because i want to play the remastered content for $10 extra dollars. Theyre adding a roguelike mode...thats going to be fun!
