The DICE Lessons; Never Make Fun of Call of Duty

The rivalry between Battlefield and Call of Duty is getting fuelled up once again, now with DICE developers poking fun at the new Infinite Warfare trailer. But we guess the price has been paid, and apologies have been made for the Twitter slip-up.

I like the trash talking. Makes me believe that DICE is confident in their product. Everyone knows the next battlefield will blow cod infinite warfare out the water in terms of graphics and gameplay. We also know that cod will sell more than battlefield. Just the way the world works

OrangePowerz3331d ago (Edited 3331d ago )

Honestly besides of Bad Company the last great Battlefield was originally a mod for the first game. Dice certainly should be thinking about shiting on others when their recent track record is anything but stelar.

naruga3331d ago (Edited 3331d ago )

since when is immature pinpointing the truth ?? COD indeed looks like a 10 years old garbage ...

OrangePowerz3331d ago (Edited 3331d ago )

You should really boot up CoD3 if you think the graphics look the same.

Even if it would be accurate it's unprofessional behaviour. They should let their game speak and not behave like some teenage fanboys.

There is no denying they have a sweet engine with Frostbite, but that doesn't account for much when their last 2 mainline games where broken for a long time and BF4 taking 6 month to get to a state where it's playable without constantly crashing or lagging. You didn't see the CoD devs going on Twitter making fun of how incredibly broken and unplayable BF4 was.

The online gaming community and "media" is already shit enough, we shouldn't have devs sink to the same level.

hardcorehenry3331d ago

hah. Real fans of the series dont point to bad company like that. I have never played a bad battlefield game, and I've played many great ones. Including BF4 and 3.

remixx1163331d ago

Yes but battlefield last couple of games have been less than stellar because they were broken at launch, not because they were bad barring the lackluster campaign.

Battlefield 4 still looks amazing to this day and still has a ridiculous amount of players yet not much can be said for ghosts which released at the same time, hell battlefield 4 looks better than infinite warfare.

SolidStoner3331d ago

To be precise Battlefield 3 on PC still looks better than Infinite warfare ;) like 100% truth because BF4 is like remade BF3... thats why many people hope Battlefield gets back to its roots where it started 1942 with modern graphics and latest Frostbite engine in action! Will see!

I like it too. It's not like he was lying when he said that it looks 10 years old. As for DICE though, they should really cut ties with EA IMO.

garrettbobbyferguson3331d ago

The Dice employee trash talking worked on Battlefront. A poor man's sequel of a 10 year old game that didn't even have basic features from their most recent Battlefield game. They have no room to trash talk after they put out that pile of dog crap.

AgentSmithPS43331d ago

The trash talking is just EA's plot to seem cool with kids, so they can steal some CoD players. I welcome the noobs, it'll be a good harvest this year.

I'm curious as to where you grabbed those tweet images from, and the inspiration for the piece? Please source appropriately.

(Lesson learned, we'll be using watermarks from now on.)

rlow13331d ago

Ah, the Twitter Police Force (TPF) at work again. I wish he would have just stuck to his guns and give a big middle finger (USA insulting gesture) to them. Come-on have we been reduced to a bunch of pansies that can't handle a little banter in the name of competition! I hope Battlefield wipes the floor with them come Friday. As for the whiners out there....go to mama to have your diapers changed!

Xavior_Reigns3331d ago

Almost everyone is beyond sensitive nowadays. I pray thebworld doesnt go to full shit soon cause damn the number of casualities....

Ristul3331d ago

Just a bit of banter, nothing wrong with that imo.

badarcade3331d ago

I can understand that working at DICE, making BF5, you see what great work is done for BF5 everyday. But they're completely wrong here and they should have seen that, maybe not the Media Editor. The MW remake proves that these games don't look like a game from 10 years ago, they look great.
You see, the COD reveal trailers are never good compared to BF trailers and I do agree that BF5 will hold its ground over IW, all of this probably because it doesn't have a life of one year. But the new COD game(s) look good.
And the Media Editor, I understand him more because he's overseeing the new trailer coming out TOMORROW. Look at exactly how the theatrics are played in the BF5 trailer vs the IW trailer. It'll probably be better and they know it but DICE... chill.

Either way I'm on the hype train for both.
Both games will sell and be great.

Probably best just cancel it. The game has flop written all over it.

-Foxtrot1d 14h ago

Yeah, you can delay it as much as you want but you ain’t gonna wash that stink off.

Killer2020UK1d 13h ago

It will lessen though and possibly make all the difference if it launches in a state that rectified a lot of the issues people had with it. A LOT of ifs of course.

RaidenBlack1d 11h ago

If you really gotta play ... play the better extraction shooter this year : ARC Raiders

ZeekQuattro1d 14h ago

Delaying the inevitable. Bungie hoping the negative publicity will blow over. 🙄

darthv721d 14h ago

They can't cancel it until a themed controller has been released first... like concord.

ZeekQuattro1d 10h ago

I anxiously wait for that and a Marathon Secret Level episode.

GamingManiac1d 6h ago

$10 says it'll have the stolen artwork on it lolol

dveio1d 14h ago

If they were absolutely certain about the quality of Marathon, then they had not delayed it just now.

So they've basically just confirmed what everyone, well, a lot of people saw: Marathon is not ready yet, still no soul to be seen.

Tacoboto1d 13h ago

"Doubling down on the Marathon Universe"

They're doubling down on soul, thank goodness this feedback illuminated that for them...

RaidenBlack1d 11h ago

and N4G was littered with comments like : Marathon looks really good, maybe you're a hater and the likes blah blah ... especially under articles which compared it with Arc Raiders ....

Inside the ‘Dragon Age’ Debacle That Gutted EA’s BioWare Studio

The latest game in BioWare’s fantasy role-playing series went through ten years of development turmoil

In early November, on the eve of the crucial holiday shopping season, staffers at the video-game studio BioWare were feeling optimistic. After an excruciating development cycle, they had finally released their latest game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the early reception was largely positive. The role-playing game was topping sales charts on Steam, and solid, if not spectacular, reviews were rolling in.

Its easy they called the die hard fans people in their nerd caves who will buy anything and then went woke to reach modern audiences....insulting the nerds in their caves along the way showing utter contempt for their fan base. very hapy it failed and any company who insults their fan base and treat their customers with contempt and insults, in future, i also hope fail.

neutralgamer19926d ago

It’s disappointing but not surprising to see what's happening with Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the broader situation at BioWare. The layoffs are tragic — no one wants to see talented developers lose their jobs. But when studios repeatedly create games that alienate their own fanbase, outcomes like this become unfortunately predictable.

There’s a pattern we’re seeing far too often: beloved franchises are revived, only to be reshaped into something almost unrecognizable. Changes are made that no one asked for, often at the expense of what originally made these games special. Then, when long-time fans express concern or lose interest, they’re told, “This game might not be for you.” But when those same fans heed that advice and don’t buy the game, suddenly they're labeled as toxic, sexist, bigoted, or worse.

Let’s be clear: the overwhelming majority of gamers have no issue with diversity, LGBTQ+ representation, or strong female leads. In fact, some of the most iconic characters in gaming — like Aloy, Ellie, or FemShep — are proof that inclusivity and excellent storytelling can and do go hand in hand. The issue arises when diversity feels performative, forced, or disconnected from the narrative — when characters or themes are inserted not to serve the story, but to satisfy a corporate DEI checklist. Audiences can tell the difference.

When studios chase approval from a vocal minority that often doesn’t even buy games — while simultaneously dismissing loyal fans who actually do — they risk not just the success of individual titles, but the health of their entire studio. Telling your core customers “don’t buy it if you don’t like it” is not a viable business strategy. Because guess what? Many of us won’t. And when the game fails commercially, blaming those very fans for not supporting it is both unfair and self-defeating.

Gamers aren’t asking for less diversity or less progress. We’re asking for better writing, thoughtful character development, and a respect for the franchises we’ve supported for decades. When you give people great games that speak to them — whether they’re old fans or new players — they will show up. But if you keep making games for people who don’t play them, don’t be surprised when those who do stop showing up

Armaggedon6d ago

I thought the writing and character development were fine. Sometimes things just dont resonate with people.
