Wolfenstein was great but people need to stop saying the story was great because lets be honest, it really wasn't. It was however a game with good gun play and fun to play because who doesn't like killing Nazis with lots of guns.

I disagree. The soul series is a prime example that you dont need a story. Counter strike. League of Legends. Team Fortress. Hell, I have over 100 hours in halo 5 and havent even beaten the first mission to the campaign.

If you really understand Dark Souls 3 it actually does have a unique story with each NPC you talk to and what's happening in the world depending on what ending you get..

I don't want story in doom, though so I don't care. Like he said, it's about blowing stuff up and killing things. It's not about story. If I want story, I go to other games like Firewatch or The Last of Us, etc...if I just want to kill things, I go to games like Doom and the Shadow Warrior reboot was damn good as well. In fact, Shadow Warrior was amazing. One of the best shooters this gen

Well I hope there's a good story alongside blowing things up, because the multiplayer doesn't appeal to me. I'm trying to keep my reasoning for having this game preordered but eh, might cancel for the sake of being a smart consumer.

I understand what he is saying and am sure the gameplay will be top notch, but the industry has changed. You can blow shit up in 95% of games nowadays. When doom originally released, of course it was about that but the market has become so bloated with shooters that now you need something else to entice customers to keep playing your game.

i cant remember even one fps game that had a good story... Usually i stop story mode before i even finish it because its not interesting or fun at all.

This isn't an excuse to have a piss poor story or a short single player. Machine Games (who also develops for Bethesda) managed to make new Wolfenstein lengthy, fun + a good story with memorable characters.

The originals were based around finding colored key cards and blasting the heads off of hell's demons, so as long as those two are there still, which they are-- I could care less about the story. We'll hopefully get bits and pieces, and I know they said something about codecs, but I'm counting on at least a cool intro and ending.

My thing about this is if one feels that way then why have it in the game? Yea as gamers we complain about multiplayer only games not having story and what not but don't half ass something just to say "it has story". Why can't Doom have a good story and be about blowing shit up? All in all Fps games really need to step their game up as far as story telling goes. I would love to experience a fully engrossed Fps that doesn't have a generic tacked on story.

Not everything needs a good story, though, and something like Doom wouldn't really benefit from having a good story. It would distract too much from the shooty shooty bang bang which is clearly what it should be about.

I love good stories in gaming and I prefer games with good stories, but to want EVERYTHING to have a good story is a little much. I don't want story in doom. I just want to kill things
