Dark Souls 3 is a challenging game, and that’s something of a shock to the system. After years of games polished to uniform smoothness, slick surfaces offering no traction as scripted events gently play themselves, to find yourself struggling with a story campaign is confronting.
TheGamer writes, "Some weapons resist the test of time."
The Nerd Stash: “Whether you’re here to gloat about your victories or to see what the fuss is about, we present to you the hardest bosses in the Souls series.”
Dark Souls 3 is easily the most replayable game in the Dark Souls Series. But, is the game good enough to spend nearly 10 hours killing Silver Knights alone?
These games bore me to tears. I don’t mind the difficulty it’s just the constant killing the same enemies over every time you rest that makes it so monotonous
Games like Bloodborne and the Souls series actually harken back to the old school way of gaming in that they are not going to hold your hand, however they are very fair in the way you are presented with each opponent, you always have the means of overcoming them, you just have to find it. Unfortunately some people just want everything handed to them so they don't have to put much effort into the game, hence these people will read walk-through's as well as how-too's before even playing the game and even go as far as employing cheats just so that they can stroke their ego.
One thing gamers need to realise is that under normal gaming conditions these games take a long time to play (speed runs excluded) so you need patience and perseverance to actually complete the game, unfortunately those attributes are what seem to be lacking in some gamers.
I am well aware of the joke phase "git gud" however it is unfortunate that some players do try to lord it over it others in are rather childish way. Anyone who has played multi-player first person shooters can attest to this. No one can become a star player in any type of game be it physical or mental you do have to practice, persevere and horn your skills. Yes there are naturals but even then they still need to keep up their skills otherwise they fall behind.
As an example of "git gud" I actually died over 30 times with the first major boss in Bloodborne although I never died once with the first minor boss. Basically the game had what is called "played me" and I actually did look at a "how-too" on defeating him/it of which I could not pull off. I finally did defeat the boss but this time I actually used the area I was in with the weapons I had to my advantage and it was not by what is sometimes called "cheesing".
After a few hours I restarted the game and this time I only died five times with the first major boss and each time it was my own fault since I was either too gung-ho or I actually panicked and lost concentration. This is what I call "git gud" and yes I am well ant truly aware that some smug people may say "But I actually got passed the first boss without any deaths", to which I would be to say "Good for you, now excuse me since I do have a Chalice dungeon to beat".
Personally I have not played DS3 although I have played Demons Souls and Dark Souls however it is on my to do list and like Bloodborne I refuse to look at a walk-through or a how-to and especially any cheats since it would destroy any enjoyment I would get in playing the game. There is nothing like the feel of "Wow I have not seen that before in this game".
Too many n00bs have a computer these days
I've always said this and DS3 is no different. It's brilliant b/c once you get over the fact that you are going to lose your souls and it's not a big deal, you come to realize that these games are as easy or hard as you want them to be.
I always go through my 1st playthrough solo, and don't level past 60. Then, I have fun and create builds up to sl150 and wreck shit. Then, I come back and push myself at lower levels etc.
The difficulty is entirely up to the player. And when all else fails, as OP wrote, grab a couple friends. Then it becomes just another theme park action rpg.
But I really do suggest trying ot once by yourself.
For me this was the easiest Souls game out of the franchise. The boss fights were a lot easier compared to the other games. It got even to be more of a breeze if you summoned help. I do think if you've never played a Souls game it will be difficult at first, you have to learn you can't just run threw levels and expect to live.
Demon's souls was really hard, really really hard at times. Games that came after were notably easier.
I watched first ten minutes of Dark Souls 3 gameplay on youtube. Yeah it looks great, it has "that" atmosphere but it is not that hard. And that's a pity imho.
