Reign “Succession” Review – AVClub

AVClub: It’s often hard to explain why you watch a show like Reign. Prestige TV it’s not. It doesn’t even have Jane The Virgin fondness for its characters or the gritty-relevant gravitas of The 100 (before the fall). Reign has no compunctions about changing a character’s entire personality to suit a plot twist, and while it’s occasionally capable of presenting difficult, human situations for its characters—there’s one in this episode!—it’s also a show whose A-plot this week is cornerstoned by a butcher’s lugubrious confession, “I like the squeal of a pig.”
