Final Fantasy VII is the Best Final Fantasy

I think 7 and 8 are my joined first then 9, 10 and 10 part 2 are pretty close to each other then 12 then maybe 6 and 5. I don't even rank 13 I don't feel it deserves the final fantasy name imo.

i also agree that FF7 was the best ..was the perfect balance between old FF/JRPGs and new art direction/plot themes . FF9 has also the same equilibrium but its art direction was awful (its phenomenal for a Japanese company to let such non inspired character design pass)

FF7 was the first fantasy game I ever played. I was 15 at the time I think. And I never played an rpg in my life but I could not stop playing it. The story, art direction, characters, battle system , while none of each part is perfect it was the best "overall" complete experience. Eventually I played Chrono, 8, 9, 10, Valkery, and to me, 7 was the best rpg experience. I think ten is my second favorite. FF6 I went back to play, was amazing and I place it third.

Final Fantasy VI is up there with it. Whenever top 3 games of all time come up I always say VI & VII as number one because they really have the most juice in terms of story, characters, worlds. I argue that VIII and even IX are still some of the best games made too honestly.

When judging forms of art, it's important to remember that terms like "best" are subjective. Articles like this are clear click bait because it ignites the fuel inside of people who disagree (or agree) with this writer's opinion. But saying one Final Fantasy is the "best" is so vague, because what is it that we are specifically stating as being better than other Final Fantasies? The graphics? The story? The gameplay? Some people care about gameplay more than graphics, or story more than gameplay, so everyone's opinions vary. We should all just be happy that we all like the same franchise and accept the fact that different people think different iterations are "better" than others, when it's just their opinion, and means practically nothing.

Best story and characters too imo with a great gameplay system behind it. I've found it to be the best one that I've played, but that's because it ticked all the boxes for my personality. There is no best in the franchise because everyone disagrees with each other.

I have never really considered it the best, personally. I love it to death, don't get me wrong, and it has probably the single most memorable and iconic moment from any of the games, but even at the time of it's release I remember thinking that I still liked VI overall a bit more (man, that really dated me).

...but then I tend to think XII is one of the best of the series too, so a lot of people probably aren't on the same page as me.

I hated 12 the first time I played it but I still have it now on ps2 and gave it another go not too long ago and really enjoyed it now that I'm a lot older.....I still find 7 and 8 to be better but 12 is worth giving another go imo. my only problem is I prefer turn based and 12 as we know (the same as the ff7 remake unfortunately) is action based.

12 isn't action based... it has an ATB system just like FF 7 had, giving you even options to adjust the battle speed and set the battle mode to wait, so enemy's won't attack while you scroll through menus. If you consider 7 turn based, then 12 is turn based too.

Not sure if you all have been following, but his article series is making a case on why every FF numbered entry is the best in the series. This is just number 7, but next week he'll be doing another for 8.

Now, that said, I believe 7 to be the best because of it's politics. A group of ecology supporting terrorists and their anti-corporate extremist action to stop a mega-corporation, the Shinra Empire, climate change, and end inequality.

Although I'm afraid for the remake. From the first gameplay trailer I'm getting the feeling Cloud will be actively apolitical, whereas he was originally just passively apolitical and establishing himself as a mercenary. Two very different things in my mind, and if true, Nomura may be dumbing down the politics to appeal to a broader audience. The new lines "I don't care about your politics" and "Not interested" in response to Wedge and AVALANCHE's politics to me don't resonate that he's just establishing himself to be a mercenary like the original lines. I'm afraid he'll be talking down AVALANCHE the entire time, to dumb politics down for a kiddie audience. Now, it's just the first gameplay trailer, so really, there's tons of time for me to be proven wrong, I just feel the original lines like 'I don't care, I just want to finish this job before the Roboguards get here' and 'Not my problem' were not as harsh on politics as the new ones. It's a slippery slope, if Nomura tries to lower the politics by having Cloud talk down AVALANCHE the entire time, which is something totally possible. It's also possible the opposite is true and that he expands politics and Cloud isn't being harsh on AVALANCHE. Time will tell. I'm just hoping Cloud doesn't ACTIVELY interject apoliticism, breaking up the experience, as that wasn't part of the original game.

I'm really looking forward to e3, hopefully there's another trailer and we'll see what's really going on. They should really expand on Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie also, perfect area to expand story and politics. Also hoping Tifa looks like AC Tifa aside from the attire, and that we'll see her helping to run AVALANCHE. People always said she was an empty character, and to see her running things a bit would be a perfect spot to both expand character and expand politics.

Perhaps, but it hasn't aged well. I went back and played 4 and 6 for the first time and loved them. But I only got a couple of hours into 7 before quitting due to boredom and a strong dislike of the visuals.

I like how this is an opinion, is in the opinion spot and yet they try and pass it off as a fact. Everyone has a different opinion and it may be the greatest game to you, but maybe not for someone else. There can never be absolute best or worse, because everyone is different and so for that reason this can't be the case.

I enjoyed playing them all but my favorites are X & XIII & I've played majority of them going back to the SNES days. I do have this for my PS4 including the original PS1 discs.

by XIII you meant X part 2 right lol I know opinions are opinions but really ........13 ......its not even a final Fantasy game it was closer to some rubbish corridor shooter for 3 quarters of the game.
