The Dark Sword is Dark Souls 3’s best weapon – here’s how to get it

The Dark Sword is a great weapon. Here’s how to get it.

SirBradders3293d ago

I got this from the darkwraith in the basement at the bottom of the lift in the high wall first area. It's what used to kill the abyss watcher boss.

ShadowKnight3293d ago

I'm using the Butcher Knife +4 and every time I put magic and use FP with it my hp keeps regenerating when I hit enemies. It feels like I'm cheating though :/ It's a great weapon for enemies and bosses to keep your hp up.

Don't tell people about this sword. My pvp game will drop.

I got this early on from the single wraith and I am killing it in pvp. Even 3v1 fights I hold my own.

SirBradders3292d ago

I summoned a red phantom in the catacombs area yesterday by mistake, poor sod decided he was gonna use a 2h against me. Let's just say 3 skeletons later he got died lol.

New to the series. I did terrible at first but started again and hardly dyin at all now :)

nowitzki20043293d ago

Yeah happens to everyone. Im good at like every game I pick up but when I played DS Prepare to die edition, I wanted to cry. Beat the big fat boss in the beginning and I was all happy and proud thinking I figured the game out, then I walked a few feet to 2 skeletons with swords and shields and had a 10x harder time there then the first boss. But you keep at it and get through it and conquer DS gameplay. One of the best series because it actually makes us work.

EddieNX 3293d ago

Once everything clicks its WAY easier. it's just the running round at the start thinking "why the fuck did I buy this game? I'm going to put it on a fire''

i'm really into it now 15hrs in and hardly dying at all

GusBricker3293d ago

My pyromancer uses this, it's pretty good when I need to go melee, but fire orb is king. Just got to the Farron perimeter.

DragonKnight3293d ago

If it's not "balanced" with today's patch.

Also, if the glitch isn't patched out, everyone needs to take advantage of the Sword Master vs. Dancer of the Boreal Valley glitch. 50k souls in the first 15 minutes of the game and access to a late game area with large titanite shard drops and lots of titanite chunks.

bangoskank3293d ago

I'm going to try using Uchigatana throughout the whole game. Never went with katanas in previous gams but love this weapon.

Master-H3293d ago

I went with the uchi and i'm two optional bosses away from finishing the game. Decent weapon. Around 370 ar at +10 sharp infused with 40 dex.

bangoskank3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

Nice! I'm going for +10 sharp as well. I'm still very early in the game and currently only at +2. Do you need to refine +10 to infuse with sharp or can you just start infusing sharp as soon as you find the Farron coal? Also have you tried Onikiri and Ubadachi? If so are they worth seeking out? Lastly, will a fire buff cancel out scaling on a +10 sharp Uchi?

No, you can infuse it with a sharp gem at any point if you have the Farron Coal and a sharp gem ( the weapon doesn't have to be at +3 or any certain upgrade level) and no need for refined.

I just got them my last session, near end game. They're pretty cool, and they're infusable/buffable too. You won't have to go out of your way to get them. They're right in your path. Damage wise, they do about 40 AR less than the Uchi when sharp infused at +10. Because they're supposed to be for a quality build, not a dex one.

No. As long as a weapon is upgraded with regular titanite shards, and it doesn't have elemental damage, you can temporarily buff it with anything and the damaged gets added to the weapon's AR.

The Chaos Blade is the strongest Katana AR-wise. Because of its S dex scaling at max upgrade (and has a lil higher bleed) it has around 415 AR at 40 dex fully upgraded. But, it requires Twinkling Titanites to upgrade, you get it late game, it can't be buffed at all, and attacks cost you health points. It's also a lil longer than the Uchi.

It's worth noting that all of these three Katanas have the exact same moveset, the exception being the Onikiri and Ubadachi's dual wield attacks with L1 and its unique weapon skill.

bangoskank3293d ago

Cool, thanks for all that useful info! In previous games I just went with raw or fire imbued scythes and whips. Didn't pay much attention to scaling. Want to give myself more of a challenge this time around and really like how the katana feels. Bubbles for your help.

Master-H3293d ago

Another thing I forgot to add. While the Onikiri and Ubadachi might have a lower AR compared to the other katanas, that number is only describing the R1 attacks. The dual weild L1 attack does two attacks at the same time and deals considerably more damage.

Liqu1d3293d ago

You can start infusing whenever you want.

All the bosses are only from Dark Souls. No Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Demon Souls

Review: Mastering Dark Souls 3 Is A Monumental Achievement - Gamescordia

Dark Souls 3 is easily the most replayable game in the Dark Souls Series. But, is the game good enough to spend nearly 10 hours killing Silver Knights alone?

These games bore me to tears. I don’t mind the difficulty it’s just the constant killing the same enemies over every time you rest that makes it so monotonous

jznrpg523d ago

You open up a lot of shortcuts so you can skip many enemies. But if I don’t like games I don’t buy them.
