Remakes and remasters have become a staple of this generation, and Ace Combat 7 Game Director Kazutoki Kono opened a couple of interesting polls on his Twitter account about two of Bandai Namco’s most classic series.
Give me every Ace Combat from 1 to 5 and any Ridge Racer will do. Flight Combat is my favorite genre, Ill take everything you can give me.
I'd be happy with Ace 5 and RR T4 :D And an Ace 3 actually localized without removing the whole story.
Ace combat everyone than 6. RR type 4 was amazing.. One of my best memories
Ridge Racer 4 all the way.
I totally agree! Love flight games and racing games, whenever I bought a new PlayStation a Ridge Racer was always that I got with it, was kinda bummed there was (and still is) none for the PS4
Adventure and maybe even FPS games makes sense but Why do THESE games need remakes?
Ace Combat 5 was the best and most memorable hands down
4, 4, 4, 4. Ace Combat Four.
Yeah boy. I spent so many hours on that game. One of my favorite PS2 games.
I played one where the wingman becomes the main villian. Can't remember which one it is.
4 was the first one I played and it was really good. But I like 5 the best. Being able to control your comrades was great and the story was just slightly better. Though no one is more legendary than Mobius 1.
Ridge racer 4 would be amazing!
AC4 was my first experience not only of the series, but also my first PS2 game. Remember hammering it for hours at Xmas when I got it. Would love to see it brought back :)
Yes you understand...
Localized AC3 obv.
How about a mech combat title along the lines of Omega Boost? Yeah, know it's from a different company, but still, we need a high speed mech shooter.
Ever play Gungriffon Blaze? II rather liked that game. But yes games of those type kind of tapered off.. I miss Armored Core during the Agetec days.. Mech Assault is gone.. no Chromehounds...Steel Battalion got washed out with what ever you want to call that last one.. Front Mission died.. I'm sad.
There needs to be a return to arcade-ish type games. Can still have titles striving for ultra realism and two hour cutscenes, but AAA productions where you can just sit down and *play* need to come back.
Ya I now what you mean... not sure what it is but some of the Indy games don't feel as complete in that regard. I feel like myself and many others look back on the PS2 Era (FYI not counting Xbox out or anything) and I felt I had more fun then, then well today.. I mean Armored Core Silent Line had this thing you could Train an AI AC and then fight it in the arena and use it on missions and such.. so many cool game mechanics I don't see anymore.. I kind of feel the 3D art of games and this push for fidelity has kind of hurt stuff... No one is going to make a Front Mission, or a Ring of Red game anymore. Or a game like PTO4 which is a fav of mine... and stuff like Warship Gunner.
No big name publisher is going to put the money needed into a new Mech Assault, much less add funds to an indie clone to polish it up. Just port it to whatever platform as cheaply as required bugs and all. Been waiting forever for the Assault Suit Leynos on PS4, and that may as well still be on the Saturn.
Oh God. Ridge Racer 64/RRV and Ace Combat 2/4, please. I'll pay for pay the pre-order. Twice.
I wouldnt mind all the Ace Combat games from PS2 era. The original PlayStation Air/Ace Combat games are too dated imo, but if they were to be fully remade then I'm all for it. My favorites are Ace Combat Zero and definitely Ace Combat5: The Unsung War, such an epic game.
Shattered Skies!!!1 give me Shattered Skies!!!!
I have so far too go...
Man, I want a Ridge Racer that let's me draw my own logo, like the original. Those were the days.
How about Namco just makes a new game in each genre instead of a remake?
You shut your filthy little mouth
Thanks for your contribution. If the general conscensus is that BC is not a feature that people are interested in, why talk about remaking a game in the first place? If you enjoyed it before you should be able to enjoy it again when you feel like it because you already own it. We live in a world of throwaway technology though, and it's rather sad. I own every system and game I have ever purchased, and I play them from time to time for the nostalgia. The old games are amazing, and should stay old to remind us where we've come from.
So you would rather pay again for a game you already played and enjoyed once, instead of having a new game in the series? You should really elaborate a bit more when you post so people aren't left guessing about how you really feel.
Have they gone so far and ran out of ideas that they have to now ask which game would be better to remake?
They are making AC7, you know that right?
Yes, I do. And now they are asking which past game to remake.
@gangster_red well, considering they are at the forefront of gaming frontier with AC7 in Virtual Reality, I would say your comment is unfair to the developer.
How is it unfair? I find it strange that Namco has come to a point in the series that they need to 'remake' one of their past iterations.
Its unfair because they already have a new game coming with the latest technology, and this is a discussion of what can they do in addition to that. So they have not "run out of ideas", if anything they have come up with new ideas. Besides, Namco has not "come to a point in the series that they 'need' to remake one of their past iterations". The guy is simply asking the fans to give their opinion to the matter. And that's why your criticism sounds uncalled for.
Ratchet and Clank has been #1 on Amazon for the past two days. Devs are taking notice. There's a lot of money to by made by injecting so many nostalgias into fans
How about Ace Combat vs. Ridge Racer!
Why is that bad?
It's like Hollywood when they remake movies that don't need remaking. For example, Ghostbusters...why? I just find it strange that after how many iterations and progressions of both series they would want to remake Ace Combat or Ridge Racer. It's almost like EA asking fans which Madden should they remake.
Most of what Hollywood remade was because of the casting and the story.. AC isn't really focused on those things.. so that's a bad example imo.
Most of what Hollywood remakes is because of them running out of ideas of their own. They apply a well known established franchise (Ghostbusters) and then remake it knowing it will sell on the name alone. So it can in a sense be applied to AC if Namco has run out of ideas for the game and are now thinking of remaking a past game instead of a brand new one.
I meant that the Hollywood remade movies were bad because...... And if they ran out of ideas, you won't be seeing AC7... Which is my point in the first reply I replied to you above.
All ACE from 1 to zero HD or remake or even both. > "Did you know... there are three kinds of aces? Those who seek strength. Those who live for pride. And those who can read the tide of battle. Those are the three. And him... He was a true ace." ― Solo-Wing Pixy https://www.youtube.com/wat... This trailer give me chill every time I watch it, and that's was in 2006!
Remakes? Not sure I want remakes at all... I would prefer new games.
Ace Combat 5: Unsung War and AC 3: Electrosphere.
My heart melts at the thought of a new Electrosphere especially if they add the cutscenes that were in the Japanese Version.
Great choice on the Ace Combat 5. I put so much hours in that during the PS2 days.
I don't have the slightest clue which AC or RR game i want to see remastered due to liking all of both series so i don't know.
In my opinion, I think they should remake Ace Combat 3 and 4 due to the US versions having missing content that were only playable in Japan. More Ride Racers would be great because it has been a long time since I have played a great arcade racer on consoles but what I really want is a brand new Splatterhouse!!!!
Ace combat shattered skies is the best Ace ever.
Ridge Racer Type 4. Best RR ever made. From opening to the end of unlocking the final cars this game is a blast. If you didn't play it I envy you cause you have the chance to play it for the first time. Gladly play a "remade in graphics and sound only" RR type 4.
Ace 5 was the best
