Why Doom’s Multiplayer Really Isn’t an Arena Shooter

id Software has a long and storied history in the first person shooter space, and I, like many gamers, have been hoping that the new Doom would deliver for fans of both the studio’s titanic series’. It would be a brutal, fast-paced single player game against overwhelming odds, while the multiplayer would build on everything that made the Quake series such a force to be reckoned with.

The game has only powerups (including demon), health, armor and one power weapon on map. There are also perks and loadouts (which aren't balanced in my opinion).The game would be arena shooter if the perks and loadouts were removed. Also the more powerful loadout weapons should be on map. Doom (2016) is also not balanced, I found using the vital signs perk and vortex rifle to almost cheap. Also the armor perk(gives more armor with each respawn)is a gimmick.

Doom (2016) is not balanced enough to be competitive, like the old Quake and Unreal which are true old school arena shooters. The power weapons and demon power up in Doom literally give you free kills. The Super Shotgun, Vortex Rifle and Rocket Launcher should not be starting weapons, they do way more damage than the other weapons and are easy to use. People complained about the balance during the alpha and they made literally no balance changes for the beta. Maybe changes will occur in the open beta, but I really think it is nothing more than a stress test/demo.

It's a game that I can play without people try harding, or ruining my experience. Win or lose, this game will be insanely fun
