I thought EA would rather make the first one a package deal on the Xbox One version of Mirror's Edge Catalyst.

Summons753307d ago

I could see this being more likely but a remastered version would be amazing still.

core_53307d ago

I would say this is a fake ... EA says, he does not do remasters even there is no entry on amazon Uk

Valenka3307d ago

I would absolutely love a remaster, but it seems most doubtful.

-Foxtrot3307d ago

What would be the point, the new one coming out has no ties to the original so it's not like you need to play it to understand the new one.

_-EDMIX-_3307d ago

I agree one is likely not coming, but not for the same reasons.

Companies don't think that way, they don't care. What they care about is making money. ie RE4 is coming to PS4 and XONE this fall, yet RE6 came not too long ago.

Dark Souls 2 was ported, yet not 1, GTAV was ported to PS4 and XONE, yet not GTAIV.

So many don't really care, if they are seeking a return, they will make it happen.

"the new one coming out has no ties to the original" I agree, but how is that relevant to the company?

Start thinking about what they want vs what you want and you'll easily be able to guess those releases or lack of releases.

EA has stated they are not doing remasters for what ever reason and since they haven't done anything with titles like Mass Effect series besides the port of Mass Effect 3 to Wii U, its very likely its not happening for Mirrors Edge or any of their other titles.

The concept of Mirrors Edge 1, is in its sequel. Thus...its actually irrelevant to really bring up its story as that isn't the sole reason someone will play the game.

EA could get a good return on a remaster, regardless of how the story in the sequel is. This is about making money, not about making the story make sense with the remaster release or anything like that.

Maybe EA didn't see a good enough rate of return to make it happen.

I have this game on origin and PS3, I should play it soon.

EA Cut Dead Space's Marketing Budget to Pour Into Mirror's Edge Due to Mock Review Scores

Former Visceral Games devs reveal Dead Space's marketing budget was cut in favor of Mirror's Edge because of mock review scores.

I wish EA would just release a DS2 remake. DS is my favorite horror game and DS2 is the best one in the franchise. But because DS1 failed to meet certain numbers EA scrapped the DS2 remake. SH2 remake was great rumors are Konami might be asking for another SH remake. The RE2 remake was great EA just needs to give it another try. But all they seem to do is shitty sports games that are no different from the year before. Change a few players, add different uniform colours, maybe change a team logo. Wash, rinse, repeat.

goken125d ago

Agreed. DS was great. But DS2 was even better. Would love to see a DS2 remake, though I would love to see a DS4 even more.
The problem with EA is they make easy $ from the slight changes to their sports titles like football FC games (whatever it’s called nowadays). People just lap that sh1t up.
Comparatively, games like DS which don’t sell 10s of millions, can’t sell them team player add ons and all the like, would seem a hassle to make and unappealing comparatively. Especially when you consider that most EA non sport titles haven’t actually performed well recently.

Dark Souls 2, Darksiders 2, Dead Space 2, Death Stranding 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2

chicken_in_the_corn124d ago

The Dead space remake was so good. Better than the original. Shame they won't remake 2.

__y2jb124d ago

I loved the original dead space but the remake I just found boring. Game design has moved on and the game really showed its age, just small area encounters repeated again and again.

I bought Dead Space during launch window and I never bought a Mirror's Edge game .

Inverno124d ago

Then they went on to screw both games over.

UnbreakableAlex124d ago

I'd rather see a new and great Mirrors Edge than another boring Dead Space.

Bioshock still looks fantastic, one of my all time favorites.

Yui_Suzumiya824d ago

Beyond: Two Souls on PS3 can compete with modern day graphics.

SonyStyled824d ago (Edited 824d ago )

Same as Killzone 2 and 3, uncharted 2 and 3, Infamous 2, Heavy Rain, Resistance 3

jasonismoney824d ago

I wish this was entirely true, but you might want to load up Killzone 2 and Resistance 3 again.

SonyStyled824d ago

@jason I watched some gameplay videos of KZ2 and R3 on my full screen. They are on par or succeed graphically to the first person shooters mentioned in the article that also launched on the seventh generation of consoles. Try the same and see what you think

cthulhucultist823d ago

Killzone 3 was super impressive! I could not believe the graphics back then as I was regularly pausing the game to stand in awe looking at the surroundings! Resistance however did not impress me that much. Heavy rain is also another amazing graphically speaking game. It almost felt next gen

Fist4achin824d ago

I always thought the first 3 Gears of War games looked great and still hold up for today.

SonyStyled824d ago

They did for their day. I recently played gears judgement with on the 360 and the draw distance was so blurry. The characters up close look great though

JEECE824d ago

Far Cry 2 was awesome. In addition to having demonstrably better physics and AI than later games in the series, it had a lot of design decisions that, criticized at the time, have since been praised in games like BOTW and Dark Souls.

iNcRiMiNaTi824d ago

It might not be super amazing by today's standard but I thought Mgs3 looked really good

JEECE824d ago

In terms of art style it still holds up.
