Avid Gamer Review - PDC World Championship Darts 2008 (Xbox 360)

Avid Gamer writes:

"When you've hit rock bottom it's not exactly difficult to go up; after all it's the only direction possible to travel. PDC World Championship Darts 2008 is hardly the strongest franchise in our books. For example, the PC version earned a measly 3/10 while the Wii version could only muster a two. Shoddy controls, boring gameplay and last gen graphics all combined to produce a seriously flawed game. The Xbox 360 version arrived on our desks hoping to sway our perceptions. Six months of extra development time can work wonders, but are the basics (i.e. a game about darts) what the underlying problem was all along? Third time lucky? Three times the charm? There's only one way to find out and that's by taking control of Phil Taylor and his darting buddies."

Nidzumi: PDC World Championship Darts Review: Simply Darts

Nidzumi writes: "Earlier in the year we saw the release of PDC World Championship Darts on the Playstation 2. It combined a fairly effective darts game with an interesting control scheme that could keep you entertained for a while. The problem with it was that it was all too brief. Now at the tail end of the same year the game gets it's release on the more advanced Xbox 360."

Pros:
+Great Controls
+Easy To Pick Up

Cons:
-Bad Presentation
-Annoying Commentator
-Little Variation In A Simple Game

OXM UK: PDC World Championship Darts 2008

OXM UK writes: "It might be the rock-lite music that barely musters enough enthusiasm to dribble out of the speakers. It might be the pointy PlayStation2 polygons that wear scars and bruises from Oxygen's attempts to hammer them into the 360. It could even be something as simple as the crazy shifting eyes that every darts player has.

Regardless, there will be a point when you realise PDC World Championship Darts isn't going to be the game to lodge the Halo 3 disc from your Xbox 360."

Totally360: PDC Championship Darts 2008 Review

The conclusion is that if you're a massive darts fan who religiously follows the game, then this is your equivalent of FIFA Soccer or Pro Evo. If you've only a passing interest in pub games it'll probably do very little to convert you.
