Lol, that conclusion. Sad trombone sound

Mankey3337d ago

Two monumentally important games. IDK, I enjoy both.

There's no accounting for taste but FFVII made JRPGs legitimate worldwide during it's time and beyond.
It kinda open the doors for JRPG to skyrocket in popularity from the 1990's up to now.
FFVII was the rising tide that lifted all boats.

The Legend of Zelda is not an RPG series

DivineAssault 3336d ago

Thats debatable but i agree for the most part.. Zelda 2 was a RPG with leveling and magic.. The rest still let you name your character but its action/adventure from there with puzzles..

Zelda is kind of its own unique beast.. Either way, both games were a very important part of gaming history..

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

higgins783336d ago

Is this even a contest? Yes, I'm not blind to see FFVII has its fans - in the millions, but Ocarina has an endless appeal from which anybody can pick up this game and be immersed. Also, its worth mentioning that while the FF series hasnt chanced much since, the Zelda series has ran and ran with it.

Nah, you're stating opinion as fact, while it really is subjective.

Nostalgia is always going to play a part. I want to play Ocarina of Time so bad, but personally the graphics are so dull and lacking og detail, I can't be bothered.

I'm sure it's the same the other way around to.. You think the characters look ugly ("how is it possible to have such a low poly character in a game?")..

The truth is, one has to have an open mind. The test of time will tell which of these games more new audiences comes to revisit.

TheFirstClassic3336d ago

To be fair, I think ff vii is just as hard, if not harder to go back to graphics wise.

@cpayne93: FFVII has prerendered backgrounds though. Some of which are even animated (like CG movies) So many pretty, interesting and eye catching details. They make you forget that the characters look like sheit.

OoT will always look the way it looks.

TheFirstClassic3332d ago

Some of the pre rendered backgrounds look good, but some look like an ugly blurry mess. There are parts of oot's art style still shines through, ganon's castle still looks epic for example. Both are a mixed bag to go back to. I feel like I can say this without bias or nostalgia tbh, I only played both a couple of years ago for the first time. Ff vii was harder for me to get used to at first, but oot needed a lot of eye adjustment too. Both were really worth going back to though.

Final fantasy isn't even turn based anymore and is going open world. Most people's problem with the games these days is that they aren't like the old ones, and you're saying the new games are basically the same as the old?

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit12312376d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

fr0sty286d ago

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle286d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

gleepot286d ago

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
