Would You Buy PlayStation VR Without Trying It First?

Given the almost completely new and unknown nature of this potentially revolutionary tech, shouldn't gamers want to test it before buying?

With all this hype around vr i really dont have any expectation that they can do ANYTHING at all with it that will be worth my time.

Maybe by psvr2 or more likely psvr3 they will get things right but ZERO expectation that this will be even worth getting hyped for. A lot of ppl will be disappointed with their preorders

Bathyj2956d ago

What makes you think there will be a PSVR 2 or a PSVR 3 if no one buys the first one?

amiga-man2956d ago

I'm buying it and haven't had a chance to try it yet, I have waited too long for this to become an affordable product, I'm not missing out.

People call it Hype, but the people using it are impressed, the money being pumped into it by big companies, tells me VR has a big future.

Count me in.

@sonarus

I like your style. I was completely sceptical about VR and didn't even bother queuing up for it at EGX15. It was on my way out when the exhibition was closing that the attendant allowed one last guy to try Occulus before packing up his stand.

That last guy was me. All I can say is, becasue I had zero expectation I was very impressed. I'm all abord the VR train becasue I tried it.

It's an experience that just has to be tried.

freshslicepizza2955d ago

of course people will, many are brand loyal. this is why the ps3 still sold millions during its first year.

i myself want to try psvr and the other vr sets. why invest in something without trying all the options?

wsoutlaw872955d ago

Of course psvr will get better in the future and may not be fully realized this gen. That doesn't mean I don't want this one. Plenty of people have tried it and once sony shows which games will launch with it and how support will be, i will definitely buy one.

@uth11 ^ My comment ^

I don't know why people would disagree. VR "sounds" as cool to me as it does to the next guy, but how will I know if I really like it until I try it. $400+ is just too much to spend on a...blind...purchase.

uth112955d ago

A device that could give me motion sickness or headaches, I need to try it first..

Plus I've tried some Google cardboard apps and they were really disappointing so I need to see for myself that this is a much better experience

ThanatosDMC2956d ago

I've tried Oculus DK2 and youtubers and devs said PSVR is better so im Day 1 sold.

ninsigma2956d ago

Better than DK2 or better than the retail version??

SniperControl2956d ago (Edited 2956d ago )

I've been using the DK2 since August 2014 so i know about VR and i totally agree with you, £350 is alot of money to spend without trying it first, then again, i did splash £370 on the DK2 without trying any sort of VR beforehand.

Trust me uth11, you will not regret it, i can never go back to playing driving or flight sims on a boring 2D TV/monitor. The immersion is unreal, for me, a total game changer.

MRMagoo1232955d ago

even watching movies in a virtual cinema is worth it lol I'm just sitting on my couch but I feel like I'm watching a massive cinema screen it's crazy how much vr makes things better. I have even used it for 5 hours straight with no ill effects to me at all 😂

MRMagoo1232955d ago

I will because I have already tried the gear vr I got free with my s7 edge ......the gear vr is no way near as good as the psvr but I'm more than happy with it so psvr is definitely worth buying imo.

SegaGamer2955d ago

Anybody who buys this before trying it has more money than sense.

Wouldnt buy any VR device without trying it out first

Rimeskeem2956d ago

I tried it and am buying it. If I hadn't tried it probably wouldn't buy it unless the reviews were saying it is a must for gamers.

SmielmaN2955d ago (Edited 2955d ago )

I'm buying it and haven't had a chance to try it. I don't have to save for more than a week to get it though so I can understand why ppl would wait a bit. To me, I just want to have that "must have" gear for the holiday break and so far many reporters have said it's fantastic. I understand it will have less power than OR and Vive but I don't own a quality PC (tablet/wifi house) but I do own the ps cam and move controllers. I also trust that among those 200+ developers there's going to be more than a few games that will be really fun.

I'm really hoping for future sports games. VR baseball, done right, would be incredible to me.

SpaceRanger2956d ago

This concept can be used toward A LOT of things. It's a solid question, but concern trolls will be all over this.

ritchi452956d ago

Haven't tried it, preordered as soon as the webpage went live. No concerns, just looking forward to something new and different :)

I can finally play Half Life Alyx.

mariopasta43d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts42d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos42d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts42d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa42d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
