Sony is winning the VR Battle the same way they won the console wars with the PS4

Remember the Xbox one and PS4 announcements? Sony managed to price the PS4 much cheaper than the Xbox One, to everybody’s surprise. The games lineup was also impressive, including Sony’s great support for Indies. Coupled with several launch announcement mistakes on Microsoft’s side, this quickly projected the PS4 as the clear winner of this generation of consoles.

It seems that Sony is using the same strategy with Playstation VR.

We still have yet to see Sony do a trolling viral video with PSVR like they did with PS4 :P

While I am sure PSVR is going to have more success than the others on the mainstream market, I believe the success of the others are also important for the whole VR industry. Oculus and Vive on the PC side, PSVR on the console market and Samsung Gear and Google on the mobile market.

There is a lot of strong VR support and I want them all to succeed.

AgentSmithPS42966d ago

PSVR's great price should encourage the greedy oculus folks to lower theirs eventually. Sony is leading the way with VR, the masses will flock to it and it'll encourage other VR companies to make better products that are actually worth spending much more money on.

shinrock2966d ago

Oooook, so now spec don't matter now!? The price, it's always the price!

Wallstreet372966d ago

Specs didnt matter when TLOU, Uncharted, GOW3, etc won goty awards out of all platforms including PC. Specs also didnt matter when they sold multiple millions lol Specs didnt matter when the TLOU won the most gaming awards in history (although i now think TWC3 holds the new title).

Bet your life PSVR will have some killer exclusives maybe not on par with Oculus/Vive or Ps4 visuals (more like ps3 visuals) but they will be enjoyed and loved and push some boundaries.

AgentSmithPS42966d ago

Paper tigers, I'm really disappointed in the "quality" of alternative VRs. If I'm spending that much money I want something much better than PSVR.

TheCommentator2966d ago

How is anyone winning when no hardware is available to consumers yet? Sony has sold exactly ZERO PSVR to date. Don't talk about price either... When you factor in the camera @$45, move controllers@$50, and headset @$80 (all things included in Oculus Rifts' entry price) PSVR is almost the same price as OR is.

Goldby2966d ago

Move controllers aren't required.
HMD box coems with headphones, plus everyone already has headphones so that 80$ is just begging for Lolz.

TheCommentator2966d ago

No, lolz is considering those earbuds headphones. It's like saying that the PS4 comes with a chat headset...

AgentSmithPS42966d ago

Sony has already won. You can inflate prices all you want and try to feel superior but it's all delusion.

Was Hogwarts Legacy Only Successful Because Of Nostalgia?

Shahmeer from eXputer: "I've always wondered whether the success of Hogwarts Legacy had much to do with nostalgia. The RPG is great but certainly not free of issues."

I totally agree, and no replay value for sure but enjoyed every minute I was playing it. Not a Harry Potter fan but still really enjoyed

Lexreborn22h ago

I still haven’t finished it, mostly due to it not holding my interest after 20 hours. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad game, wouldn’t say it’s amazing I really can’t judge it fully due to not completing it.

CrimsonWing691h ago

Harry Potter is one of the biggest IPs in the world. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why it sold so much. It’s a great game on top of that, so the math kind of maths here.

Can’t wait for the article on if Zelda or Mario only sold well due to nostalgia.

Tzuno46m ago(Edited 46m ago)

ngl, it got me in the first half hour
after that, a big let down, mediocre at every step
only fans are praising it

Markdn3m ago

In what way was it mediocre, can't really find anything about it that was mediocre and I'm not a hp fan

Demetrius4m ago

It's still a good game almost time for a 2nd playthrough, the passion they put into it is🔥🔥 crazy how after a couple months or a year folks get to complaining about this n that about certain games smh childish mfs
