If you're new to video games, perhaps you've never heard the name Adam Orth. But for a few long months in 2013, alongside the genesis of the Gamergate controversy, Orth was the games industry's most hated man. A respected developer with an enviable, decade-long career at the likes of Sony, Electronic Arts, LucasArts, and PopCap, Orth joined Microsoft as creative director at its Xbox Entertainment Studio in Redmond in 2012, just as the company was preparing to launch the Xbox One. A year later, he lost his job.
