Why Wind Waker is the Best Zelda Game Ever

While controversial, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has stood the test of time to quite possibly be the best game in all of the Zelda series. While it may not be as well known as Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker brings a new level of depth into the series' lore and gameplay.

eh an entire dungeon cut, relatively short, OoT was both revolutionary and the dungeon design IMO is superior to TWW. It balances story and gameplay perfectly. So yes there are some arguments against it but OoT is still at the top of my list, for a myriad of reasons, and it wasn't even my first Zelda game.

This is one of the worst zelda games ever.. Very few and short dungeons, boring long ass sailing and lazy overall especially the triforce Quest.. Graphics and animation is all this game has..

I loved Phantom hourglass, it corrected lots of its weak points. Was more engaging.

Going back to the article, the reasons don't make any sense.. Link family ? That's not the real link first of all. Ganondorf was badass but I prefer the one from OoT.

Yes I too think WW is the best one.

Ocarina was good but WW took the best of it and made it better minus Epona and large areas to explore. The dungeon's were well done as well.
TP had annoying tutorials.

PH was happening in the same world, so yes I can compare.. It was more engaging and even sailing was more fun. I have no idea if you played these games or if you are only judging by the hype.
Even Nintendo agreed that sailing was boring and the triforce Quest wasn't a good addition to the game.
Other than OoT, every single zelda game has its weak points. Ww just had the most weak points.

@abzdiine I have played every Zelda game. And PH does not even remotely compare on engagement, quality, visuals, gameplay, creativity, anything.

It was a pretty redundant and flawed handheld entry that had little to no additional content outside of the main story. The return to the TotOK between dungeons is greatly criticized. The finicky controls have been criticized. And the sheer size and DS limitations puts it in a whole much lower class than TWW

I respect your opinion, but what did WW bring which was creative? hours or passive sailings? I mean Zelda is about dungeons, and in WW they are maximum 3 floors each. Doesn't take more than 1 hour to finish each dungeons, and then painful sailing and fish feeding sequences before next dungeon.

I remember in OoT being stuck in dungeons for days, especially water temple with adult Link. That one was a hell of a ride.

I agree WW has the best graphics in history of Zelda, but doesn't come close to being the best game in the series. It brought nothing to the table. It's a recycled idea of the Ocarina where you need to learn and play song notes.
PH is taking place in the same world, and had much more creativity due to stick gameplay.. it was just a refreshing experience to me.

Maybe you had to play OoT at the time (of it's original release) but I first played it on my 3DS and thought it was meh. I thought ALBW and Majoras Mask were much better.

It improves upon what OOT started. Combat, story, world, NPCS all are really big improvements or enhancements over OOT. OOT is a fantastic game but WW is just better because it's a proper sequel.

Ocarina is pretty kool but I feel like most 3D Zeldas are better. Thats just me tho.

I would love another console Wind Waker game. A Sequel to it and Phantom Hourglass.

* Would be set in a similar world but with a ton more islands.

Like much bigger islands and 10x as many as Wind Waker, but with a similar art style but updated to Wind Waker HD.

I love this game. The visuals,music,controls,charact ers,animations and all the little extras are amazing.

Liked it a lot better than TP, and some things about it are better than OoT.

The series has too many games that excel at what they do so i wouldn't put one above the other.

Exactly. They all have significant meaning to the player. Some fans go nuts over Majora's Mask. Others Skyward Sword. It's subjective to the player of the game. I don't understand people that can try and rank one better than the other.

I agree, although to be fair I haven't played oot, but because of the graphics at the time, although i've only played wind waker and twilight princess, I had a lot of fun with wind waker, the music and the atmosphere was unlike any other, I truly hope they do another remake with the same music and everything for the new nx

Just a great series all round, I'll never forgot getting Ocarina of Time the Christmas it came out, instructions were in French and German but I didn't care the box/manual was the least of my concerns as an 11/12 year old at Christmas just wanted new Zelda. Defo one of the best tho wind Waker was great but a lot of just sailing around involved. I've since played Phantom hourglass, spirit tracks. Wind Waker, twilight princess on Wii, Will get it on Wii U and finally finish it, from the start obviously. Link to the past. Skyward sword was great, links awakening was great just amazing series all round. Even went back and did very first Zelda on 3ds.
Still yet to play Majora's mask, Link between worlds, minish cap the 2 Capcom GBC ones but all sat on my 3ds ready to go. Also 4 swords but doesn't look like I'll ever find someone to play with ;( always got time for a bit of Zelda. Got wind Waker on my Wii U I don't think I ever truly finished it maybe I'll have to go and check it out again on Wii U. I just wanted the Zelda console to be honest haha the free game was a bonus as I had it back on Gamecube with Silver console ;)

Just started Wind Waker HD on my housemate's Wii U. Solid entry so far, though OoT will always be my personal favourite. Played it when I was 4-5 years old, and it's the reason I am a gamer. I was a fool not to borrow a friend's Majora's Mask back in the day, so I guess I need to pick up a 3ds sometime in the future :)
