This articles takes a look back at Street Fighter from it's arcade origins in the late 80's.
Maybe capcom should read this to see that SF is an ARCADE game..
Memories I tell you. Back then people fought each other with karate champ and yi ar kung fu. Then street fighter hit the scene and it gathered many arcade battles back then but I didn't like the choppy look of the characters moving. But when SF2 2 hit.. Man!... It was crazy back then. People lined up. Quarters lined up on the screen. I finally knew what it must have been like back in Asia decades ago when martial artists tested each other's fighting technique against each other. Back then everyone was watching kung fu theater and Bruce Lee movies. Capcom just nailed that feeling perfectly. I had wished that they remade the original in SF2's image than just pull characters for the alpha series. Would have been cool. How many people remember the EGM April fools joke with Shenglong? That was crazy.
It's funny because Gouken's design ended up looking very similar to the "original." Peculiar.
It required people to actually leave the house and play great games.. Games that looked/played way better than that box by the TV.. Golden age of gaming
