New Gamer Nation:
Full disclosure, I did not finish the main storyline in Rebel Galaxy. I did put somewhere between fifteen and twenty hours into the overall game doing things like: upgrading my ship, buying new ones, trying to make it big on the market, hunting down bounties, exploring different solar systems, and getting into countless space battles before stopping. I stopped because I died three times in a row trying to complete the same story mission. I knew that I had to go complete a bunch of other side missions to earn enough money to upgrade my ship until I’d be even close to completing the story mission. This was the never-ending cycle of Rebel Galaxy and it didn’t seem to be ending any time soon. Instead, I put the controller down and thought—what’s the point? My next main mission was exactly the same as the last ten I did. All the side missions were even more repetitive. I wasn’t even enjoying the space battles anymore. Everything felt like a grind, and that’s the best way I can describe Rebel Galaxy: one big grind.
Counter to how my opening paragraph may seem, I do not hate Rebel Galaxy. Hates a very strong word and leads one to believe I didn’t enjoy a single moment I spent in my spaceship. That isn’t true. There were plenty of moments that made me feel like I was in the wild west of space or the uncharted sea of stars. Only briefly however, as time went on all those joyous feelings dissipated.
