HD8bit Firewatch Review
Mike@HD8bit- "February 9th, 2016 saw the launch of the much anticipated game- Firewatch. The game was unveiled at E3, 2015, but relatively little information was released in the months leading up to the release. The gameplay that was shown, however, grabbed my interest immediately. The cartoon-looking, cell shaded graphics looked unique amongst a sea of near photo-realistic games, and the trailer ended with a suspenseful cliffhanger. I knew immediately I wanted to play this game.
The game starts out by telling a very captivating story (using onscreen text) about a man named Henry. The story is interesting, but sad and ultimately leads to Henry taking a summer job as a park ranger to take a break from the drama that has been going on in his life. His primary duty is to look out for forest fires and report them back to headquarters. In the first truly playable scene we find our character hiking through the forest toward his lookout tower. As he hikes, a call comes over his walkie-talkie, and this is where the story gets weird."
