Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest Review | CGR

Jacob from CGR writes: "When choosing which new Fire Emblem game to buy this past weekend, I had no idea what I was getting into when I decided to go with Conquest. There are three respective games to the new Fire Emblem Fates series, Birthright, Conquest, and Revelation. With Revelation not being available until March 10th, I had to choose between Birthright and Conquest, and depending on which side you decide to support, the story is not the only thing that is different, the difficulty and challenge are completely opposite as well. Since I decided to take on the story of Conquest, I am faced with an increased difficulty in battle, where every move counts."

They were not messing around. I can definitely say that we have already gotten two full games, and I'm assuming Revelations is a third full game. So, three full Fire Emblem games at the same damn time for $80. That's incredible!

It's one of my ten favorite game series ever, and I personally thought Awakening was the overall best, but this new entry is better in every single way.

Love it!

Sadly i will hold off on getting this just because there is no dual audio. Not that i don't like dubs its just thst i feel like im missing out on the great japanese cast they had work on the game. They had a lot of my favorite VAs and now i cant enjoy them.

I can certainly appreciate your disappointment.

With that said, I can't fathom missing out on one of the best Fire Emblem games ever made over lack of a 2nd language.

Most of the older entries never included Japanese and we enjoyed them to the uttermost regardless.

It's like boycotting your favorite restaurant because they stopped serving your favorite color napkins, know what I mean?

For me it's like boycotting my favorite restaurant because they stopped serving my favorite meal. But i get it.

There are ways to play with english text and japanese audio...

Either way, that restaurant lost a customer because they didn't supply the demand of colored napkins lol. I wanted that damn napkin.

And i don't feel like installing homebrew on my 3ds to install an undub when the undub won't make sense because Tree House changed the text in scenes completely. And the fan translation isn't complete.

If I made a list of things I want in a game, dual audio isn't even on the list. If a game is good, then it is euqally good without dual audio.

No matter how many words someone types, I will never understand why anyone would not buy a game because it doesn't have dual audio, let alone even prefer to hear a language you don't speak.

Ludicrous.

GameBoyColor3360d ago

Well Takwin, i find the fact that you don't believe people won't buy something when it's missing a feature that is small to you but big to some ludicrous.

Im not saying its a bad game, I just don't feel like picking it up now because of this. Especially when awakening had it, they had no reason not to include it. And so what if I don't speak the language? I like hearing my kung fu movies in chinese and some german films in german. Yet i don't speak either one.

I love this game so much! And you are right, Revelations is the same size as Conquest and Birthright.

I started with Conquest. Haven't started Birthright yet. Conquest is fantastic though! Its also quite hard. I'm playing on the 2nd difficulty and with no overworld to grind levels in it is seriously tough! But I love it for that. My only complaint with Awakening was hiw easy it could be at times.

I heard Birthright is more like that too, so I'm glad I started with Conquest. I also like the characters more and also the idea of being on the side of such a villainous, murderous prick. Its a cool change.

How many games have there ever been on any platform, with a truly fleshed out story that you get to see from three different sides? I can't think of any, which is another reason this game is truly epic. One Fire Emblem game is an epic undertaking with a 100+ hours of enjoyment. Three games with all these perspectives is *almost* too much!
