How does Twilight Princess HD compare to the GameCube version?

Destructoid:

The launch of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is right around the corner, but there’s still plenty of time for Nintendo to show off some of the graphical improvements made for the remaster.

In the video above, you’ll see a comparison between the GameCube version of Twilight Princess and the new Wii U version. The difference is like night and day: it’s less jagged, there're higher quality textures, and the shading’s a lot smoother. Also, look at Epona’s tail! It’s so swooshy!

It has better graphics. End of discussion.

marloc_x3407d ago

I did a GameCube playthrough on my Bravia.

I can sincerely say the Wii U version blows it away.

Idiedgoodbye3407d ago

Double post, oh wait that was a different article.

fatneal3407d ago

barely...im legally blind POP hold it down

fatneal3407d ago

my problem with it is its not enough...they didnt remove the tedious dated things from the gameplay and they basically did a rush job on the visual improvements...the simple fact tha there needs to be a side by side comparison video to see the differences proves the upgrade is piss poor...imo they should have taken an extra 6 months to really wow us with this remaster. ill even go as far as to say if a proper remaster meant zelda wiiU/nx was delayed again then im ok with that....as yourselves this question: what is the incentive? why should anyone who already owns or has played this game buy it again? the amiibo support is meh...the lantern? meh..."extra dungeon" meh....i dont criticize nintendo much but i cant defend this BS

blawren43407d ago

There doesn't NEED to be a comparison video, but because people keep stating they don't see any improvement, they keep getting posted.

Also, not everyone has played this game before. People keep asking why would anyone buy this again. is that really the target audience by Nintendo. I don't know, neither does anyone else. We get asked this question for every remaster. I never had a gamecube and never played Wind waker, therefore it was new to me and I was a new customer. I've never played a link to the past until recently on the e-shop, making it new to me. I've never played mario 64, just now going through ocarina of time 3D. Not everyone is double dipping, or has the old console or means to play the old games.

I have played this game, though, and I have no desire to pay for it again, but if I hadn't, I would be all over this one. It looks fantastic for what it is.

fatneal3407d ago

youre missing the point...nintendo for the most part has always been quality over quantity but this "remaster" is BS...it doesnt matter that this will be a new experience for some gamers what matters is this is a blantant desperate cash grab by nintendo and that totally outra character for them. even the amiibo support is weak...nothing about this "remaster" is impressive. essentially this is mere rerelease!!!!

deafdani3407d ago

I played the game back when it launched in 2006. Still own the original Wii disc.

I'm going to buy this remaster day one. Got it preordered and everything.

Why? Because the Wii copy I have looks like shit on my 55" tv. I originally played it on a 24" CRT TV, where it looked good enough, but the aliasing in the original game when played on a HDTV is one of the worst I've seen in any Wii game, period. I would like to play it again without my eyes bleeding.

Also, the Amiibo is cool and comes at no extra cost.

fatneal3407d ago

theres nothing impressive about blocky pixelated blurry dated graphics in "hd"...as a nintendo fam this bothers me that they would even stand behind that twilight princess rush job...atleast wind waker got the TLC it deserved this is just trash

Locknuts3407d ago

I think the Wii U version looks better. But not by much.

10 Dream Switch 2 Games That Would Be Magical to Have

A new Animal Crossing or a Kid Icarus: Uprising remaster would be perfect on the Switch 2.

Where Are The Wind Waker And Twilight Princess Switch Remasters At?

Nintendo is a weird company. It has the most illustrious legacy of any single company in the medium and seldom chooses to take advantage of that fact. Countless classics are confined to their original platforms or only available through outdated retail models or a cheeky bit of emulation.

I want a Twilight Princess HD for the Switch I would day one it right now.

GoodGuy091006d ago

This holiday would've been great and it would've calmed my hunger for tears of the kingdom. It supposedly exists but why has it taken this long I wonder. Here's hoping it still releases before totk, maybe a trailer at the game awards and a shadow drop.

Double_O_Revan1006d ago

I wouldn't hope too hard. The Metroid Prime Trilogy or even just Prime 1 remaster supposedly exists and has been complete for several years now. Either Nintendo are evil bastards, or everyone claiming it's existence is full of shit. Frankly, I believe both scenarios to be true.

Immagaiden1006d ago

Wii U was such a great to play every 3D Zelda game and various 2D ones as well

It'd be nice if Switch caught up to that wealth of legacy content

Inverno1006d ago

Booted up WW HD through emulation on Deck. Forgot how much I like that game, it's so charming with how expressive Link is. Ninty has taken too long.

ZeekQuattro1005d ago

Nintendo wants the focus on tears of the kingdom. Though with these year Zelda old rumors I question if the collection ever existed for the Switch. Much like the Prime Trilogy that evolved into a remake or remaster of just Prime 1 in recent months.

I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

LoveSpuds1036d ago (Edited 1036d ago )

You sir, have good taste in games :)

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.

Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

GaboonViper1035d ago

Cheers Spuds, yep i love Windwaker too, beautiful artstyle, and i loved sailing and finding all the secrets out there.

blackbeld1035d ago

Agreed. For me top 3 of all time is.

1. ocarina of time
2. Final fantasy Vll
3. MGS1

GaboonViper1035d ago

Brilliant top 3, would love a MGS1 remake that has been rumoured.

LoveSpuds1035d ago

Yup, hard to argue with that top 3 squire, some quality games right there!

-Foxtrot1037d ago

Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is

....

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.

lockedongamer11037d ago

I respectfully disagree, but they're all great games.

porkChop1037d ago

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.

I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.

godofboobees1036d ago

Those are not traditional Zelda games

Crows901036d ago

Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.

porkChop1035d ago

What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.

Brazz1036d ago

Breath of the Wild is overrated as shot, Wind waker is much better.

P_Bomb1036d ago

I’m a Link to the Past guy.

MadLad1036d ago

Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.

pietro12121036d ago

I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

John_McClane1035d ago

Link to the Past was so, so good! Those chickens though! 🤣
