The Magicians expanded upon each of its main characters in its fifth episode, but that balance did a disservice to some of the more significant plot moments taking place. What "Mendings, Major and Minor" did excel at was showing the dark side and side effects of magic, and landing those reveals with great human moments. We also were too briefly introduced to Cancer Puppy, which… Cancer Puppy. Come on.
