Today, Ndemic Creations has announced they have made a $250,000 donation between the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and WHO. Additionally, they revealed that they are working on a new mode that will let you work to fight against pandemics.
I’m conflicted. I hope this is not in response to people potentially getting offended by the game’s core premise in light of what’s going on. On the other hand, new content is new content and I’m assuming this is a mode that’s added to the game, with the standard kill everyone mode still being an option. So...sure.
Ndemic Ceations writes: "Our website is currently offline due to very high player numbers. I'm copying our statement on the coronavirus outbreak here so people can still see it."
Jesus people need to get a grip, or this has been the best marketing campaign ever for resi 3.
Maybe I should play Plague Inc. again. Killing off the human race with a disease is good fun...although waiting for it to happen takes a while and the gameplay gets repetitive after a while. I think that's why I stopped playing it.
The player behind the Coronavirus clearly went with the China strategy, which is where China is chosen as ground zero for the disease as its large population and proximity and airports and ports to other countries make it ideal for spreading it further. I'm more partial to the strategy where I pick a country that's really difficult to infect as the game progresses, and start there. It takes a while for it to spread, and even longer for it to leave the country, but once it does it inevitably infects countries like the US and China anyway.
Two weeks ago, a petition was started urging Ndemic Creations to add anti-vaxxers to the game. The developers found the idea interesting and agreed to add them.
