Fallout 4s map is hardly considered giant.

frostypants3371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

No one said it was. But it's generally considered to be a fair size.

A game map doesn't have to be huge. It just needs to be big enough and contain enough content. Look at Just Cause 3: huge map...but so much of it is pointless.

bleedsoe9mm3371d ago

i don't get why people would rather run a few extra minutes between events , its about content not size . we'll see how the division stacks up after its released .

Psychotica3371d ago

Well it needs to be big if there are flying vehicles to use. I also find it fun to explore and find the hidden items in the large open world.

solar3371d ago

@bleedsoe9mm

ugh, running or going across the endless nothingness of the maps in Arma, DayZ, and H1Z1, i hear ya on the content is what i want.

sanosukegtr1233371d ago

Fallout 4 and gta 5 is big enough

LAWSON723370d ago (Edited 3370d ago )

I disagree about Fo4, IMO Fo3 had far more content and overall it felt much larger. Fo4 is a great game but the main issue I have is it feels like there is not nearly enough unique places, stories, items and people compared to its predecessors NV and 3. I keep wanting to play the game but I literally feel like I am out of awesome stuff to do after 125+ hrs.

KosherNostra3371d ago

These comparisons are never helpful. One game has vehicles, another has subterranean areas, and yet another has indoor environments. Apples and oranges.

gamer93371d ago

Fallout and Division both have no vehicles and subterranean areas

KosherNostra3371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

I can't tell if you're saying neither have underground levels, or if Fallout has them, too. If it's the latter, it doesn't change my point that comparing maps (especially GTA's) isn't really helpful.

zidane13413371d ago

They have the metro underneath the city, so yes Division does.

BlahFlahNo3370d ago

The division has sewers and a subway

gamer93371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

@kosher, yes but he specifically said in the video that GTA 5 is not a good comparison. Did you watch? Both Fallout and The Division do have underground levels and indoor environments, so i think the comparison is a pretty good estimate and gives people an idea that at least the Division map isn't tiny. Which is good news

KosherNostra3371d ago

If it's not a good comparison, then what are we all doing here? Why make the video?

SonyWarrior3370d ago

gta5 has underground subway aswell and indoor environments....

frostypants3371d ago

It's also hard to judge scale or distance, and what liberties devs took with walking speed, perspective/camera tricks, etc.

gamer93371d ago

Except that he very clearly outlined how long it takes to run across both maps – does anybody watch videos these days before commenting on them?? Lol

slinky1234563371d ago

It's just a comparison so we know the size and scope of the game. GTA is added to it cause more people are familiar with it and is one of the biggest maps out there for a single player game.

sephiroth4203371d ago

I think they should compare Just Cause 3 instead of Fallout

frostypants3371d ago

Why? Action game with vehicles and ginormous empty wilderness with almost nothing going on in between populated areas, vs. foot-based RPG-oriented game with map that only needs to be big enough to pack in all of the content (and thus no huge empty wastelands). Fallout 4 and The Division both fall into the latter category.

sephiroth4203370d ago

oh yeah i see your point, i just wanted to know how big just cause was compared to the others, it does feel a little empty at times :(

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ3371d ago

Just Cause 3 is like 8x bigger than GTA V... so why? lol

gamer93371d ago

Wow, same size as Fallout 4 map – that is great news

smolinsk3371d ago

Fallout 4 map was disappoting small, so yes The division map is stil small.

I believe it's been on ps+ a few times over the years of I'm not mistaking same goes for gamepass.

‘GTA V Gets Pulled from PS Plus as PC Players Continue to Favor Legacy Over Enhanced’

That’s an awful clickbait title. The use of the word ‘as’ means the first statement is the result of the second, when in reality they’re not connected.

Profchaos3d ago

Also the same for red dead redemption 2 and GTA trilogy (albeit they split that into individual games)

Tacoboto3d ago

It just got put back on Game Pass recently too.

GTA V is the pass-around sub title, and it probably doesn't even matter because everyone owns a copy or even two by now.

FortWaba3d ago

Trash article and trash website.

Doesn't even mention WHEN it's leaving.

gold_drake2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

so i looked cause i was curious, its still avaliable to me.

the headline is misleading asf.

also, how did no one report this. the editing is horrendous. they'd have my arse for this ha

gamerz2d ago

Noticed my copy of gta5 on Steam was already upgraded without me doing anything. How can you still play the legacy version?

Shiore2u2d ago

There should be a second listing right under it in your library.

Is there anything wrong with the enhanced version if you’re just playing single player?

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast21d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos21d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator21d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

My problem with the game is they want to install a Kernel level driver before I can even boot the game in sngle player mode I don't care about GTA online

I flat out refuse to allow any game kernal level it's a huge risk I don't need to take

It's not the only game that has done this. Ut it's absolutely shutting the dorr completely on PC gaming for me kernal level drivers are ineffective at preventing cheaters but publishers insist on continued use

Pyrofire9546d ago

My big issue is how long it takes to transition between open world and interiors in Online.
Sometimes it can take over a minute of just starring at a black screen.

badz14946d ago

Let it sleep already R*. VI is coming and this game has had 12 years in the spotlight.
