Is Super Smash Bros. NX going to be a launch title?

George Foster from GamersFTW writes:
"With the recent announcement that Bayonetta and Corrin are coming to Super Smash Bros. on February 3rd, Smash rumours are spreading all around the gaming community. One of the most common speculative subjects right now is whether Super Smash Bros. is coming to the elusive Nintendo NX as a launch title. A trusted source has told gaming sites all over that Namco Bandai are working on several games for the NX and one of these is a possible new Super Smash Bros. to release as a launch title."

Personally, as long as they keep the 'better' characters such as Ganondorf, Bowser, and the personalised mii characters, my boat will float. Although, I would like to see characters such as Dr. Mario nerfed so the less skilled players can't obsess over them (just my opinion). But must say, this writer knows his stuff, so bravo old chap.

Lol your trolling right?

Dr mario is generally seen as bottom tier.

Always great fun these, but I think you're right about it just being a re-release. Definitely looking forward to this though!

Yes it is. The NX will most likely launch with a couple of games we've seen before and also with an only slightly upgraded version of Zelda Wii U.

People already seem to know what NX is gonna be.
I do not believe it is a generation upgrade, but something based on existing architecture but much more social, or even a hybrid home console/handheld with multiple Gamepads connection.
SSB launch title? No!
Remaster? Probably.
Nintendo finally seems to embrace the remaster model, and it's all good. Give me Double Dash HD please.. my favorite MK of all time.

If that's true, Nintendo are doomed

wonderfulmonkeyman3421d ago

Nah.
If all it took was making something more social with more controller options on familiar architecture, then multiple systems by now, from others and not just Nintendo, would have been doomed by now.

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee

Yup Ultimate for me BY FAR is my favorite.

Ten Overdue Fighters for Smash Bros.

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While the future of Smash Bros. has been uncertain for a while - whether Nintendo will build on Ultimate or bring us a new entry entirely - within all likelihood a new Nintendo system still means something new for Smash Bros. is on the horizon, and that something will almost certainly include new fighters, however many or few. While this might be the gaming article equivalent of putting up Christmas decorations in October, it’s never too early to start speculations when it comes to Smash Bros. before two thirds of everything inevitably gets leaked ahead of time. Keep in mind that this is not a list of predictions for future newcomers, though a few could perhaps fit in that same category, but rather a small list of the characters that in this writer’s humble opinion are overdue an appearance in the gaming crossover to end all crossovers."
