Michibiku's Jenni Lada writes, "Gust’s Atelier series can seem quite intimidating. 10 entries have been released outside of Japan, 12 if you include the Mana Khemia games in the tally, and many are parts of known trilogies. It can be difficult to know when, or even if, you should jump in. Atelier Escha & Logy Plus is a perfect place to start, despite being right in the midst of the series’ Dusk trilogy."
The Mako Reactor says: “Everything you need to know about getting into the Atelier franchise from best place to start to every new release covered on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.”
Excellent article! This franchise is amazing I started around the Vita games and have been playing since. But for the newer releases I have lagged behind in purchasing due to my backlog. This great comprehensive article got my bearings straight thanks!
I always hear good stuff about the Atelier series, but with so many games I didn't feel like actually researching. So this article was a good read, and I may buy Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book in the near future.
Atelier Ryaza is looking like it’s going to be the breakout game for the franchise.
The PlayStation Vita still has some games in it, let's get that out of the way from outset. The release schedule isn't massive, but there's a steady trickle of releases that should keep us going through the console's twilight.
for my list it's
Persona 4 Golden
NFS Most Wanted 12
Soul Sacrifice
Dynasty Warriors Next
Muramasa Rebirth
Terraria
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Metal Gear Solid 2
Gravity Rush
Ninja Gaiden Σ Plus
A totally decent list. I could add A LOT to it. How about the 2 EDF games? EDF 2017 Portable and EDF 2 Invaders From Planet Space?
Killzone mercenary, uncharted golden abyss, gravity rush, and resistance burning skies were my favs. So sad the vita wasn't more successful it had so much potential
Reviews 2 Go just finished up their play of the PS Vita's newest Atelier. Here are their final thoughts:
"Atelier Escha & Logy Plus is the most user-friendly Atelier game to date. While the frame-rate still struggles in areas and there is still incomplete English voice-work, the system is improving and it’s definitely a worthy adventure for both Atelier and JRPG fans."
I think that Alchemists of the dusk sea is a better entry point to the series. It has no time limits for anything you do and is very easy going. Of course it's only on the ps3 right now.
